Question:
Trying to pair with the replacement app for the Kurt 51180. I cannot disconnect the Kurt device from bluetooth. The Kurt device shows connected to bluetooth but will not let me disconnect, or forgetinch it does not give me any options. The display simply does not respond. Any suggestions?

Hi Mike,
That’s a really common issue with the Curt Echo part # C51180, and what you’re describing actually points to the root cause.
The Echo is not meant to be paired through your phone’s Bluetooth settings directly. It has to be connected through the app only. When it gets paired at the phone level, it can “lock up” like you’re seeing where it shows connected but won’t respond or let you disconnect.
First, go into your phone’s Bluetooth settings and try to “forget” the Echo device. If your phone won’t let you do that, toggle Bluetooth off completely, wait about 30 seconds, then turn it back on. If it still shows stuck, restarting your phone usually clears that connection.
Next, unplug the Echo from your 7-way for a minute, then plug it back in so it resets. After that, open the app and go through the pairing process from inside the app, not through your phone settings. That’s the key step that usually fixes this.
If it still won’t respond after that, sometimes the easiest way is to remove the device from the app profile and re-add it, then reconnect using the PIN under the cap.
You’re very close here, this is one of those quirks with how the Echo connects. When you plug the Echo in, what color light are you seeing on the unit?

I have not had that issue. I’ve used mine 2-3 times and I’ve had no issue

Hi Heather, Thank for your reply. Turning the phone off and on did the trick. When the phone came back on the bluetooth allowed me to "forget" the app/device. Thank you!

The controller is super easy to set up and use . The only negative I could say is the pin that the strap attaches to broke after a few times of using it
