Review of Draw-Tite Hitch Accessories 63080

Today, we're going to review part number 63080. This is the Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover for two-inch hitch receivers. The "QSP" stands for "Quiet Secure Performance." Now, this is a combination hitch receiver silencer and a cover. It helps keep your hitch quiet, stable and clean. It is specifically designed to fit on two-inch by two-inch hitch receivers. It is ideal to be used with hitch mounted accessories such as bike racks, cargo carriers.

It'll also work with ball mounts. This does quiet your ride by helping to eliminate the rattle and vibrations within your hitch receiver. This will stiffen and reinforce the connection between your hitch receiver and towing equipment or accessories and it will reduce the risk of equipment damage caused be a loose connection. I do have an example here of a Draw-Tite hitch. We're going to install it on to show you how it works. This will apply tension to whatever you insert in there with this easy to use lever. When you're not putting anything in the hitch receiver, you can close this door on it, it protects your receiver from any dirt and grime by covering up the opening. The door itself, you can see, is hinged to the bracket for safekeeping, opens and closes like a door.

If you'll notice right here, they do have a magnet, so when you close it, it will stay closed and not open up. It does install very easily. It'll slide onto the end of your hitch receiver, it stays on the hitch. It is made of a durable plastic construction. It is designed for two-inch by two-inch hitch receivers. To give you an idea of the length on this, it's about four-and-a-quarter inches long, by about three-and-five-eighths inches tall and about two-and-a-half inches deep.

Now, a note on this, is it's not to be used on any of the OEM factory style hitches. When you receive it, you'll get it just like this. What'll you first need to do to install it is to remove the door. There's a pin that holds this door on. If you just start at the top and push with a small screwdriver down on the pin, the pin will pop out. Then, all you have to do is just go ahead and slide the pin out and remove the door.

Then, when you do that, if you notice, there's an opening right here. What you'll do is start on the passenger side of the vehicle and just slide this across the collar on the hitch. Then, take your door and your pin. The thing you want to make sure is that when you put the pin back in, that you go from the bottom because the very bottom is wider than the top. When you put the door back on, you don't want to go from the top, you want to start at the bottom and push up. Then, just line the hole back up, push your pin all the way up, then you'll see your door is attached. Now, to install, what we're going to do, is I'm going to take an example. Here's a ball mount that we're going to slide in. What you want to do is open the lever on the side, have your door open and then just go ahead and install your ball mount, push it until your hole lines up and then use your five-eighths-inch diameter pin and clip. Put your pin through, put your clip on there. Then, you'll notice, it's holding your ball mount in, your ball mount still wiggles a little bit. What you'll want to do then is, after it's installed, is you're going to have to apply some pressure on this lever. Then, once you push down hard enough, it will lock that into place. You'll notice that the ball mount will not move at all. It's almost like a solid piece with the hitch itself. Again, your door will stay open. There's a little tab there that'll keep it from flapping open, but your door will just stay open on the side. Then, you're all ready to go. Then, to remove it, all you'll need to do is just go ahead and pull back up on this lever, that'll release it. Take your pin and clip out, slide your ball mount back out. If you're not going to be using it, just go ahead and put your clip down, close your door, it'll stay with the magnet closed, and you're all ready to go. That should do it for the review on part number 63080, the Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover for the two-inch hitch receivers. .
