Question:
I used my charger today on a work van and it charged the battery good, but the unit got hotter than I would like. Thinking of this summer and how it will be worse. Is this normal? It doesnt seem to have a fan or vents. I was just curious. Thx JBs rv service

Hey Johnathon, welcome back! It is normal for the PowerMax 11-Stage Smart Trickle Charger item # PM49VR to get warm during charging. Especially during the initial bulk charging stage when it works hardest to recharge a drained battery. You should definitely still be able to touch it though. It does not have fans or vents you are correct.
If the PowerMax item # PM49VR is too hot to hold, or definitely if it starts to smell you may have a fault in the battery. It is recommended to use the charger in a well ventilated area.
How hot did the PowerMax item # PM49VR get and have you tried it on a different vehicle?
