Question:
Will the active start plug-in soft start – 20 amp work with my Honda EU 2200 I generator to run my 13,500 BTU air conditioner in my 17 Foot winnebago micro mini travel trailer?

Hey Edward, you can use the ActiveStart Plug-In Soft Start # AS97FR with your Honda EU2200i, but your setup is right on the edge for a 13,500 BTU AC.
That AC typically needs around 2,300 watts to start, while your generator peaks at 2,200 watts and runs closer to 1,800 watts continuously. The soft start will help reduce that startup surge, but since this is a plug-in style unit (not hardwired directly to the AC), it won’t be as effective as a full soft start system.
So in ideal conditions it might work, but it’s not a guarantee - and you could still run into overload issues. For more consistent performance, most folks step up to a larger generator or use a hardwired soft start on the AC itself. What kind of AC unit is it? There might be a soft start capacitor specifically for that AC unit.
What kind of camping setup are you running - mostly off-grid with just the generator, or do you usually have shore power available too?
