Get soft start performance for your small camper, van, or overlanding rig. Enjoy smoother, quieter startups that ease the load on, and let you use a lower-wattage generator to power your fridge, water pump, and other appliances.
For overlanders and small trailer owners, Soft start reduces high startup amps so lower-wattage generators can power fridges, water pumps, and other essentials without needing a larger unit. By softening the initial surge, this ensures your appliances run more smoothly and efficiently and it preserves the life of your generator while also saving fuel. And because it just plugs in, the setup is super simple!
To get the best performance, be sure your generator can handle the startup load. 13,500 BTU AC units need at least 2,300 watts, and 15,000 BTU units need 2,500 watts. This unit has built-in surge protection that shields your electronics from dangerous voltage spikes with 2,100 joules of defense.
With built-in Bluetooth and a smartphone app, you can monitor startup performance, receive fault alerts, and check your power status all from your phone.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this Active Controls ActiveStart plugin soft start with straight plug. Now, this is going to give you a 20 amp soft start performance for your small trailer or overlanding rig. And you're gonna be able to enjoy smoother quieter startups that are going to ease the load on your fridges, water pumps, and other appliances. So the lower wattage generators can power those items without needing a larger generator.
As you might know, by softening the initial surge, that's going to ensure that your appliances run more smoothly and efficiently, preserving the life of your generator and also helping to save fuel. Now, this is going to also give you 2,100 joules surge protection to guard your electronics against power surges. And you're just going to plug this into the power pedestal or home outlet for a quick and easy setup. And then this also gives you the added benefit of giving you the ability to monitor this system easily with an app that's gonna give you detailed data. And so if you might, hopefully you can see here, we do have QR codes here for whichever smartphone that you have.
And so with whatever smartphone you have, you'll just point it to the appropriate QR code, that will take you to the app store and then you can download the app to control this. So it's a free app download. And let me go ahead and put a tape measure on this just to give you an idea of the size. So I'm gonna look at the overall length first, measuring end to end, not including the prongs here, we're sitting right at about 17-1/4 inches long. And then on the unit itself, the width is about 3-1/2 inches.
The length is about 4-1/2 inches. The thickness or the depth is about, I'm gonna say right at 2-1/8 inches or so. So hopefully that gives you an idea of the size. Now, if you decide this is the one that's gonna work best for you, you order it, you receive it, we would love to hear how you're using this and you can send us some photos and let us know how this is working out for you. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our quick look today.
I do hope that our brief time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
Works great
