Furrion Vision S+ Camera System Experiencing Signal Loss and Monitor Reboots in High Traffic Areas
Updated 04/09/2026 | Published 03/24/2026 >
Question:
Hello, I have recently started using a Furrion 4 cameras S+ system in my Airstream trailer being towed by a Toyota Tundra SR5 truck. I traveled from Poway to Mammoth Lakes California. This trip had both multilane highways Highway 15 through the Inland Empire of Southern California as well as a single lane each way highway called 395. While on highway 15 my camera system was plagued by frequent outs both of individual cameras all four were ping out and complete reboots of the camera base unit, restarting with the words FURRION VISION SYSTEM or something like that being displayed while rebooting. I had the system professionally installed at great expense and the installation appeared to be well done. While traveling on the more isolated highway 395 the problems completely disappeared. It went for several hours without problems. On the return trip several days later, no problem again on the isolated highway 395 but massive constant outs and reboots once again while on the very busy highway 15. Please let me know how to improve this situation. Thank you kindly in advance

Hello Stephen,
Based on what you described, this is most likely signal interference combined with a possible power issue to the monitor, not a problem with the installation. The fact that everything works great on Highway 395 but starts failing on I-15 is the big clue here.
I also want to say I understand how frustrating and honestly a bit stressful that can be, especially in heavy traffic when you’re relying on those cameras for visibility. That’s definitely something we want to improve.
The first thing I would check is that the monitor is getting a consistent, stable power supply, since the full reboot you’re seeing with the Furrion startup screen typically points to a brief voltage drop or interruption. That’s not considered normal behavior, so it’s a good place to start.
On the signal side, your Furrion Vision S+ Wireless RV Observation System w/ 4 Cameras - 7" Screen # FR74AD runs on a 2.4 GHz frequency, which is the same as WiFi and Bluetooth. On a busy highway like I-15, there are a lot of competing signals from other vehicles and the surrounding area, which can cause the cameras to cut in and out. That part is fairly common.
Antenna setup can also make a bigger difference than most people expect, especially with an Airstream since the aluminum body can block signal. Make sure all antennas on the cameras and monitor are tight, pointed straight up, and not blocked by metal. Even small adjustments here can help.
At this time, Furrion does not offer a true signal repeater or booster for this system. Honestly, I really wish they would, because it would help a lot in situations like this with heavy interference.
The good news is your system works perfectly in low interference areas, so the core setup is solid. We just need to help it handle those tougher environments a bit better.
On a different note, what adventure are you most looking forward to this year? Where are you headed, and what are you most excited to check out?

Thank you Kate, I have purchased a Furrion pwm filter device that may improve the signals and improve the input voltage quality at furrion's recommendation. I did recheck the electrical connection to the head unit and that appears to be solid. I've also checked the antennas and they are all on solid. It will be another week or two before I can test everything on a trip. Kindest regards -Stephen

The camera has two antenna that greatly increase reception when extended. I have connection issues sometimes if the antenna are not extended.
