Hi Jon, that’s a really smart question to ask before picking everything out so you don’t end up with something that doesn’t sit right or causes clearance issues.

The etrailer hitch part # e98901 on your 2021 Grand Cherokee is a 2" receiver, so it’s going to work with most bike racks that have a 2" shank, including both platform and hanging styles. That’s the most common size, so you’ll have a lot of good options that fit cleanly and securely. Where you can run into issues is using a 1-1/4 inch rack with an adapter, since that can introduce extra movement and reduce stability, especially over time. Also, some vertical racks put a lot of leverage on the hitch and aren’t typically recommended for this type of setup.

The other thing worth keeping in mind is bumper, spare tire and hatch clearance. Most modern racks are designed with tilt features to help with rear access, but depending on the rack design and how far it sits from the hitch, that can vary. If you want to be completely sure everything clears and locks in solid, I’m happy to check a specific rack for you or help you pick one that’s known to work well with your Jeep.

What kind of bikes are you planning to carry and how many are you looking to load up? How heavy are they? Are they e-bikes? If you already have the bike rack, which one do you have? I am happy to assist further.

Hi, Jon It's a standard 2 inch hitch it will take all 2' racks or the smaller size with an adapter, doesn't come with one but which ever rack you get it should come with one.
