Can I Upgrade Spring Bars On Eaz-Lift R3 400 WDH?
Updated 03/12/2026 | Published 03/09/2026 >
Question:
I have an Eaz Lift R3 400 WDH and I would like to know if I can swap the bars only to a higher rating of 600 to 800. My GVWR is 4840 and about 200 lbs of propane and batteries. Im not going to max GVWR but Im just trying to be as safe as possible.

With the Eaz-Lift R3 400 WDH frame, you can’t just swap the lift bars out for higher-rated bars and magically bump the rating to 600–800 pounds. The 400 WDH is engineered as a system, and its load rating is based on the combination of all the parts, not just the bars.
If you need a higher weight capacity, the proper path is to upgrade to a WDH model that’s built for that capacity from the factory, such as the 600 or 800 series units. Those are built with heavier internal components, stronger pivot hardware, and a frame meant to handle the extra load. Swapping only the bars on your R3 won’t reliably increase its safe working load and could put unnecessary stress on the rest of the system.
That said, we don't offer the Eaz-Lift WD hitches here. So, if you want to upgrade the only solution I can offer would be a different brand WD hitch like the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37100ET. This is for trailers with a tongue weight between 600 and 1,000 lbs.
What kind of trailer are you hauling?
