Availability of 2-5/16" Ball for Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch

Updated 05/01/2026 | Published 04/28/2026

Question:

Part Number AN88VR: We bought a smaller camper brand new 21foot Gulf Stream 6,020 GVWR 2x5 frame, requiring a 2 5/16inch ball. Im finding this is a weird combination. Can you simply give me the 2 5/16inch ball with the Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch 10K, 4inch rise/, 3/4/5/6 brackets, with a 2inch shank? I dont really need the 14K version with a 6inch rise/. The tuck and trailer are pretty even so I believe 4inch rise/ would work best.

Hi Mike; we don't have a way to swap out the 2" ball on the Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch # AN88VR. We do have the 2-5/16" ball separately, # AN45VR, but we don't have it as a complete system. If you really want the Andersen, what I would do is reach out to them directly and see if they are able to sell it to you in that configuration.

If you want my opinion, I would not choose this weight distribution hitch for your new camper. I have an Andersen since it was free from the dealer and I am not a big fan. It is pretty ineffective overall, especially if you're closer to your towing capacity with a truck like your 2026 Ranger.

I think you will be a lot happier with the Equal-i-zer # EQ37060ET. This comes with a 2-5/16" ball and is rated for 200-600 lbs of tongue weight. You're probably right on the edge of the range so I would measure your tongue weight to find the correct rating.

We also have the # EQ37100ET for 600–1,000 lbs of tongue weight. Equal-i-zer is widely considered the best and makes a great product. There are definitely people out there who like the Andersen, but from personal experience there are much better systems in the same price range.

Robin, Thank you so much for your detailed response and your recommendations. I was highly considering the Equalizer before, then got swayed by the Andersen videos. But since they don't have a combination for my setup, I'll get the equalizer. Expect an order from me momentarily. Thank you again. --Mike

@Mike you're welcome! I don't like to necessarily bash products, but my own experience with this system just isn't the best. I could be wrong, but I think a lot of the people who are happy with it would be happy without a WDH as well. If I towed my trailer with a 1-ton pickup I'm sure it would seem like the Andersen was amazing. Equal-i-zer built their company around weight distribution and their systems are top notch. I'm sure you will be a lot happier with the # EQ37060ET.
