Question:

I am interested in more information about the BigTruck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale. In one video it appears not to be height adjustable. In another video, one is shown to be adjustable but the part number is not explained nor listed. I have a 2025 Casita 17SD. Level ball hitch is at 22 inches. Which scale would be better for me? Thanks.

Welcome back Jim! The 1,000 lbs Tongue Weight Scale item # BTBRV004 is going to be the correct Big Truck Big RV scale for your 4,000ish lbs 2025 Casita 17' Spirit Deluxe trailer. You could also go with the item # BTBRV99FR which is the same 1,000 lbs tongue weight scale it just includes a snap pad. The issue with both of these is you're going to need to use some kind of lifting block because they are not adjustable. Even with the snap pad installed you're still going to be over 3" short and you want your trailer at a level towing height when measuring.

As an alternative, I recommend the B&W Digital Tongue Weight Scale w/ LED Screen item # BW34KR. This is the adjustable one you referenced watching a video on. It works with trailer coupler heights from 19-1/2" to 27" tall. I prefer this one actually. It comes with it's own carrying case and provides a more accurate tongue weight. The item # BW34KR will display tongue weight to the nearest 5 lbs. The Big Truck Big RV item # BTBRV004 is to the closest 20 lbs.

What all do you have mounted on the tongue of your trailer? Just the propane tanks or did you add anything like batteries or a bike rack?

I’ve had both…go for the B&W. My BTB scaled failed after two uses.

The B&W tounge weight scale worked perfectly for my needs. Very easy to use and very well made. Comes with a custom fitting carrying case. I would not hesitate to purchase again.

The B&W digital scale is my first choice for many reasons: 1 The construction / welding is 1st class, as is all B&W products 2 The scale weighs up to 4000 pounds in 5 pound increments. 3 The base is huge, it was very stable on the sandy ground in our lot. 4 Extra bonus is the molded plastic case. I move about 10 different trailers with my F350 dually each month. Some I load and some are loaded by other people so I had made up my mind to buy the BTBRV scale when I returned from a trip towing a very unruly cargo trailer. When I went to eTrailer the new B&W scale came up on my screen. After studying the specs. it was a no-brainer that the B&W was my top choice. My plan is, the next time that I move my 5th wheel toy hauler, that I am going to check my pin weight. I intend to put 2, 2x12 boards stacked on each other crosswise in the bed, just behind my B&W Companion hitch to set the scale on. Then back in to a couple inches before the King pin engages, at that time, I will VERY CAREFULLY retract the landing gear until I get a reading. I will take pictures and update with my findings.

Hi Jim. I have a 2025 Grand Design Momentum MAV27 which is a pull-behind travel trailer/ toy hauler so it has a considerable tongue weight empty. I have tbe digital scale and it is fully adjustable and worth every penny. For a Casita you have a lot more options. Any of those recommendations above will work but since I'm a "buy once- buy best" kind of guy I recommend the digital. You won't regret it.
