Question:
I’m replacing a manual jack on my 2018 Jayco Jay Flight 24RBS. Tongue weight is around 750–800 lbs. Is there any reason I’d need the 5K model or is the 3.5K enough?

Hey Angela, you’re thinking about this exactly the right way.
Electric tongue jacks are sized based on tongue weight, not total trailer weight. With your 750–800 lb tongue weight, the 3,500 lb models of our etrailer electric trailer jacks # e72QV or # e22QV are already operating well within their limits.
The # e82QV 5,000 lb would give you extra overhead, but it isn’t required for your setup.
If you camp on gravel or uneven ground, the # e22QV (which is the # e72QV plus the SnapPad kit) is a really nice upgrade for added stability.
Angela, are you running a weight distribution system on your Jayco? That could help fine-tune which direction I’d steer you. Sometimes the heavier 5k models are better if you need to lift up the rear of your truck while setting up a weight distribution hitch.
