Question:
I plug it in to the 7-way connector and the light on the unit does not turn on, but the trailer lights go on. What can I try?

The light on the Curt Echo # C51180 should turn blue when it is paired and connected to your phone. It would then turn green when the trailer is connected. First make sure your brake controller is correctly paired with your device, then plug in to your trailer. You should see a solid green light.
If you do not see lights of any color, the first thing you want to do is make sure the connection is secure. If the 7-way is not fully seated in the Echo then it won't detect the trailer. Assuming it is, I would go ahead and inspect your trailer wiring. Make sure nothing is damaged and also check your ground connections. Make sure they are secure on a clean, bare-metal surface.
If this does not resolve the issue, feel free to contact me and I can help to troubleshoot further if needed.
