Looking For Electric Jack For 6x12 Enclosed Trailer That Plugs Into Silverado OEM 7 Way For Power

Updated 03/09/2026 | Published 03/04/2026

Question:

I’ve got a 6x12 enclosed cargo trailer that I use for landscaping. No battery on the trailer and honestly I don’t want to add one. Would one of your electric jacks work if I just plug into my truck? I’ve got a 2021 Silverado with a factory 7-way.

Hey Mark!

All three of these etrailer jacks - the # e72QV 3,500 lb, the # e22QV 3,500 lb with SnapPad, and the # e82QV 5,000 lb with SnapPad - are powered directly through your truck’s 7-way plug. So with your Silverado’s factory 7-way, you can simply plug the jack in and run it without adding a trailer battery or wiring anything permanently.

For a 6x12 enclosed landscaping trailer, the # e72QV is typically more than enough capacity. If you’re parking on gravel, dirt, or soft ground at job sites, I’d lean toward the # e22QV, since that’s the same 3,500 lb jack but with the SnapPad included for a wider, more stable footprint.

No battery to maintain. No extra wiring. Just plug in and lift with the touch of a button.

Mark, do you have a rough idea what your tongue weight is when everything’s loaded up? I want to make sure it isn't heavier than I'm thinking, which would push you into the territory of the 5k jack instead.
