How is the Top Mount Bracket for GE Appliances RV Refrigerator GE88FR Installed?

Updated 03/08/2026 | Published 03/04/2026

Question:

So this bracket is just screwed in from the front? A big black strip of steel covering my cabinet with screws in it? Am I understanding this correctly? How does this not look horrendous? Is there a piece of trim to cover it or anything?

Hey Jordan, welcome back. The Top Mount Bracket for GE Appliances RV Refrigerator item # GE88FR is going to be bolted to the top of the a GE Refrigerator like item # GE78FR and then bolted to your cabinets. The bracket's only 2-1/2" tall so most if not all of it will be hidden behind the top trim of the refrigerator door. There is not a piece of trim designed for it. You'll also need to source your own wood screws that are at least 1" long.

The Top Mount Bracket for GE Appliances RV Refrigerator item # GE88FR is designed to fit the GE Profile RV Refrigerator w/ Freezer item # GE78FR in stainless steel, item # GE48FR in black and item # GE68FR with a stainless steel glass front.

What is the distance from the flange of the top mount bracket to the back of the fridge? My cabinet face is 24.5 from the back wall of the cabinet, and I see the overall depth of the fridge is over 26 inches, so it’s critical that I know if the fridge will slide back far enough for this bracket to contact the face of my cabinet.

@JordanC You're going to have room! The GE Profile RV Refrigerator w/ Freezer item # GE78FR without the door measures 23-1/2" deep and the face of the Top Mount Bracket for GE Appliances RV Refrigerator item # GE88FR sits right at 1/4" behind the door when it's closed.
