Will etrailer Electric Trailer Jack e55ZV Work On 1979 Airstream Excella 500

Updated 02/23/2026 | Published 02/15/2026

Question:

Im looking at replacing my tongue jack on a vintage 1979 Airstream Excella 500. Would this jack work? What is the horizontal distance between the mounting plate centerline and the outer aft motor case.

Hello Jorge, thanks for reaching out. The etrailer Electric Trailer Jack # e55ZV should work great on your 1979 Airstream Excella 500. It uses a standard bolt pattern (3" apart on center) so as long as you can confirm this matches the current jack, it'll work great for you.

I went out to our warehouse and grabbed one of the jacks to get the measurement you asked for. I measured approximately 5-1/2" from the center of the post to the farthest point on the motor case. I edited a picture to illustrate. Hope this helps!

Two thumbs up for my purchase. Easy swap with the old jack and has been working great on my open featherlite trailer with and without a car loads. Would readily recommend this Jack.

Hi Jesse, Thanks for the picture and info. Do you have the aft dimension? Thats where i have a cover for the propane tanks that im afraid the jack might interfere with.

@JorgeC I gotcha yes the aft dimension from the center of the tube is approximately 1-1/2". The motor casing is 7" long overall.
