If your old AC is done and you're ready to switch over, this GE Deluxe Plus rooftop unit is the starting point. Just know it's not backward compatible - you'll need GE's R32 upgrade kit to complete the system.
Hot afternoons and cool mornings can happen on the same trip, especially during spring and fall camping. This GE Appliances Deluxe Plus rooftop AC gives you 15,000 Btu of cooling to help bring cabin temperatures down when the RV has been sitting in the sun. When the weather turns cooler, the built-in heat pump provides electric warmth without using propane. It can operate down to 25 degrees F, but it is best for mild-weather comfort and is not meant to replace your RV furnace in cold conditions.
Rooftop equipment deals with road vibration, outdoor storage, sun exposure, and changing weather. This AC uses an automotive-grade polymer shroud with a glossy, UV-resistant finish to help resist cracking, warping, and sun damage over time. GE also builds in corrosion-resistant coatings, heavy-duty motor support brackets, reinforced screw holes, and vibration control testing. Sound-dampening rubber grommets help reduce noise and vibration through the coach, so the AC is less distracting while it runs.
This is the rooftop AC unit only, so it requires compatible GE R32 interior components to complete installation. Depending on your RV layout, that may include the correct GE ceiling assembly, control box, thermostat, or air distribution components for a ducted or non-ducted setup. It is not backward compatible with GE AC systems from 2024 and earlier, so confirm your current system before swapping the unit in. The unit is designed for roofs 2" to 6" thick and a 14-3/8" x 14-3/8" cutout.
If you're comparing models and wondering what will actually fit, this unit is designed around the roof openings used by most RVs. In many cases, that means working with existing cutouts rather than planning changes to your camper. The rooftop unit pairs with a compatible R32 air distribution box, thermostat, and controls, which are sold separately, so you can build the setup that makes sense for your rig. Exact measurements and compatibility details are listed in the specs to help you confirm fit before moving forward. A/C works great. Easy install.
Worked great. Easy install
Package showed up on time and works better than the one it replaced when it was new.
Can't really let you know of the product until I put it on the roof. I can only hope it lasts and outperforms it predecessor which only made it 2 years and 6-7 uses. Very disappointing. As for the assistance from the etrailer staff, it was fantastic. Great advice and all had uplifting personalities. Thank you.
It's not cooling
Works Great
We had this unit installed yesterday, and today we’re trying it out for the first time. Blowing nice cold air and hopefully it’ll give us a number of years of good service.
Quick shipping and ac works great so far
We replaced the standard GE A/C on our '22 Grand Design 22MLE with this after the Wago connector shorted out and caused a fire in the unit's control box. I probably didn't need to replace the whole unit because the damage was confined to just the control box and the wires to the A/C were spared.
The replacement went really smoothly. We used a ladder leaned on the roof of the camper at a low slope and made a plywood "sled" with blocks on the side to keep it on the ladder to pull the units up and down from the roof.
There was a glitch where the DC fuse to the unit was blown (they were mislabeled) and two white wires were tucked up in the unit that need to connect to the control box. GE tech help was very patient and understanding in helping me figure it out.
The people at etrailer are very nice and I do most of my business with them. They are always very knowledgeable of the products and make sure you get the right product.
The GE Heat Pump works great in all modes.
NOTE: We just installed the SoftStartRV from eTrailer and the unit is much quieter on start-up now. I suggest just getting it with the heat pump.
We are running the camper on a Craftsman 2500 watt generator (Generac) now.
Plug and play, if you can read a schematic or have a general knowledge of electrical systems. If you are replacing an R410a system, buy the control box and thermostat too. As for eTrailer, I will be buying from them again. Shipping is fast and very reasonable, and they have always had every part I have needed in stock.
It fit in place of the original hole. The wiring harness was different from the original harness, so I had to splice the new wires onto to the old quick connect. All the wires matched up. also there is a different freeze connection. I had to take the 2 white wires and splice them into the old blue wires for the freeze sensor. The other 2 wires were not needed because I did not get the heat pump unit.
Service was very good
Great AC/Heat Pumps unit, much more efficient and quieter than my old Dometic AC.
I would have liked there to be a mounting option that didn't require an air distribution box as my Fifth-Wheel does not have one, which created a complication during install. Aside from that, the install was fine, and it's been running well.
