Will these work if you pit an 8 foot Camper on a f150 crew cab with a 6.5 box

Hi Dennis!

The Brophy Slide In Camper Tie-Downs - No Drill Bed Mount - Zinc Plated Steel - Qty 4 # HSBP will definitely fit your 2019 Ford F-150 with the 6.5 foot bed, so that part is not in question. That said, I absolutely cannot recommend putting a camper designed for an 8 foot bed in the 6.5 foot bed of your truck.

The front tie downs will be fine as that is the same place they will sit no matter the bed length. The rear ones though, that could potentially end up having your turnbuckle at an angle that I cannot say would be safe or advisable to do. There is also a very high likelihood your center of gravity would be thrown off as you will have a lot more unsupported weight behind the rear axle. You could maybe get away with this for a short distance on a pretty straight and very even road, but definitely not for long term travel.

Can I ask why you are looking at a camper that isn't designed for your bed length?

Budget and availability. 6.5ft are hard time finding in our budget.

@SueM Gotcha. I know people do this exact thing, but you want to be very mindful of the weight of the camper you are looking at and how that weight is distributed once in the bed. It's doable, just be very careful. In the mean time, just let me know if there is anything else I can help with. ^___^
