Question:
Hello, I have 2 sets of these: Universal Bike Tray Mounts for Bed Racks that are mounted to my rallitek roofrack. The slot on the mount is 4inch wide. What Im hoping is that the 2 rail slots on the RKY97MR are within that 4inch spacing. I want to use both slots to bolt to the mounts instead of a single slot like most bike rack trays have. Can you help? If they are I will be purchasing 2 of these racks. Thank you so much for your help.

Hello William,
Thanks for the details. I understand what you’re trying to do. You have the Backwoods Adventure Mods universal bike tray mounts on your RalliTEK roof rack, and since each mount has about a 4-inch-wide slot, you’re looking for a bike rack that lets you bolt through both slots instead of relying on a single mounting point.
The RockyMounts MachTen # RKY97MR unfortunately won’t work well for that. It mounts using clamp-style hardware that wraps around a crossbar and doesn’t have dual base rail slots meant for bolting to a tray or track-style mount. Because of that, there isn’t a slot spacing that can line up with your 4-inch mounts, even though your RalliTEK rack itself uses T-slotted crossbars. That means you’d be stuck with a single attachment point instead of the solid, two-point mount you’re aiming for.
A better option for your setup would be the Yakima HighRoad Roof Bike Rack # Y22DJ. This rack is designed specifically for channel or track mounting and uses two adjustable T-bolts that slide in the crossbar slot. That adjustability lets you position both mounting points within your 4-inch tray mount spacing, so you can bolt it down through both slots on your Backwoods mounts. This gives you a much more secure, stable install that’s well-suited for a RalliTEK rack, as long as your crossbars are the standard extruded T-slot style, which they typically are.
What kind of bikes are you hauling? Do you have a specific trail you like to ride? We have the Katy Trail here in Missouri and it is always packed with riders, maybe lacking a few in the winter months. Have you ever heard of the BT Epic bike race? I got to work our tent there this last year, and am definitely looking forward to working it again this year! Maybe 2027 will be my year to be a rider =)

Thanks for the response, but there is a picture of this rack mounted directly to a similar system (Was able to mount to a Kuat Ibex truck bed rack---This comment and picture is listed on the page). Is there rail mount hardware I can order or do I need to find my own. I think this rack is exactly what I'm looking for and will work perfectly with the correct rail screws/bolts, etc.
