Can Blue Ox Sway Pro System be Used in 2-1/2 inch Trailer Hitch
Updated 02/10/2026 | Published 02/07/2026 >
Question:
I am considering purchasing a 2026 Ford F-250. My current truck is a Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 2inch receiver. My current set is a Sway Pro with 750 bars for my 650 tongue weight. 20foot Airstream Since the F-250 has a 2-1/2inch receiver, can I just replace the shank to use my current hitch ball and bars?

Hey Rick, yes you can just swap out the shank that you have now for one that is designed for a 2-1/2 inch hitch like the Blue Ox part # BXW4028. You probably already know this but you'll most likely need different spring bar tension on the new truck to so you'll want to run through the setup process again. How do you like the Swaypro?

Yeah when I upgraded tow vehicles I just bought a new shank for my existing Swaypro. In my case the new truck was much higher than the old one so I needed a shank with more vertical adjustment range as well as the larger shank.

I had the Blue Ox with a 2025 Tundra pulling a 27' new Airstream it was a 2" receiver. I moved to. 2026 F250 7.3 gasser which has a 2" receiver. There is too much play in the receiver. You need to buy the frame for 21/2" to fit perfectly. E Trailer is your best source

Rick, John, We went from a 2020 AS 23 and Tundra to Chevy 3500 and AS 30. I bought the exact same drop. Works out very well. Zero complaints, keep wandering!

I had the same scenario. 2018 Silverado 1500 replaced with 2024 F250. Purchased a new shank and used the sway pro I originally purchased. Make sure you verify torque specs and check your bolts and nuts.
