Tire Chains Or Snow Sox For 2026 GMC Sierra 2500HD with 275/65/20 Tires

Published 10/21/2026

Question:

I have a 2026 gmc 2500hd with the 275/65 r 20 was looking at the titan tc2536 but read the questions and someone with your store recommended the tc2335 for clearance so I went and looked for those and they say they don’t fit. But see reviews using them… would they be the better choice… and I’m in Oregon but live in Missouri so I read I have to have them in truck do I need 2 sets or just 1 … all new to me. Thank you

Hey Timothy.

GMC doesn't recommend traditional tire chains with your 275/65R20 tires, but I do have a solution. I recommend the Quality Chain EasySox Snow Socks # QC55FR. These fit your tire size and have a low-profile fabric design that works well for vehicles with limited clearance.

The good news is that states generally requires you to carry an approved traction device, not necessarily traditional metal chains. Snow socks are an accepted alternative. The # QC55FR comes with two snow socks, so one set covers your rear tires.

Now, if you were dead set on tire chains or cables, the Titan Chain # TC2335 would be the better choice over the # TC2536 because it has thinner links and a Class S design that requires less clearance. However, since GMC specifically advises against using chains with your tire size, I can't recommend either option without risking damage to your truck.

Missouri winters are normally a bit harsher than Oregon. Are you used to driving in the snow and ice?
