Hi Colin!

We have some options for your 2022 Ram 3500 Crew Cab diesel model with the short bed and full length running boards, but I do have a couple questions.

First, do you have a factory hitch or an aftermarket hitch (if aftermarket, which one)?
Second, are you willing to remove or modify the running boards?
Third, do you have factory under bed flip out steps?

The reason I ask, TorkLift is very specific with their fits and the Front Camper Tie-Downs # TLD2141 require your full length running boards to either removed or modified. The Rear Camper Tie-Downs # TLD3112 will work with a factory hitch or no hitch, but cannot be used with those factory under bed flip out steps. Kind of a pain, I know.

If you don't want to remove or modify your running boards (which I totally understand) and have the factory under bed flip out steps, your only other real option would be the HappiJac Camper Tie-Downs - Custom Bed and Bumper Mount - Front and Rear # LC236326-205221. These aren't as nice as the TorkLift tie downs, at least in my opinion, but they do work and are not as picky with what they will fit.

We do also have a couple options from Brophy (like the Brophy Slide In Camper Tie-Downs - Extra Clearance - No Drill Bed Mount - Qty 4 # HSAB), but I am not a fan of these and don't really thing they are the way to go with a full size truck like yours.

Last question, do you already have turnbuckles?

Hey Colin, what did you end up going with for your Ram 3500—did you decide to modify the running boards for the TorkLift tie-downs or go with the HappiJac setup instead? Your update could make it easier for others choosing between those options.

@LazerS I went to Kent, WA and had them modify the FRONT Torklift camper tiedowns for my truck. It cost approx. 1 hour extra in labour. This way i still get full use if my running boards when I’m not using my camper. Also, if you have an aftermarket or OEM rear step pull down, you will need to have this removed to install the REAR camper tiedowns.

@Colin Nice! Glad they could get it to fit with your running boards! Out of curiosity, do you know what they did to modify them?

@LazerS I believe that they had to cut a piece off the tube section of the bracket that mounted to the frame, as without being cut the tubing came just about up to my running board. I had suggested that all they would need to do was to put the tubing mounting bracket on a bending machine and bend it down so it cleared the running boards, I figured a couple of inches of clearance would be plenty with regards to any movement in the brackets/connections or camper movement. SO not positive if they cut off a short piece and or bent it slightly as it didn't need much. Works fine, but depending on what tie-downs your using, you may need to get longer ones. I purchased a Heavy duty quick link for each side (Fronts) as well as a 10-12 inch piece of heavy chain. I connected the quick link to the Torklift Connector, added the chain then connected my Tie-downs, nice firm fit, all is good. Just did a 640km, trip, everything seemed to work fine, no movement.
