Is there a Tailgate Bar for a 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz That Does Not Disable Features?

Updated 03/05/2026 | Published 01/30/2026

Question:

Do you have a 48 rigid tailgate light bar that will work on a 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz without disabling driver assistance? I have a cheap one I bought online that plugs into 4 pin trailer harness, but it disables blind spot and handsfree driving.

Hey Dick, welcome back! I have a workaround but all of our light bars like the 48" Long Putco Red Blade LED Tailgate Light Bar item # P92010-48 are going to have the same issues. They're designed to plug into a 4-way to read the tail light signals but in your case your Hyundai is reading a trailer due to the tow package so it's reacting the same way by disabling features.

If you were to install the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector item # C93DQ, you'll be able to get around the tow settings. This custom fit harness plugs in behind your rear tail lights and transfers the signal directly to the 4-way connector bypassing the factory tow package.

Hey Dick, how did things go after you added the Curt T-Connector harness to your Santa Cruz? Did it stop the driver-assist features from turning off when using the light bar? Your update could make it easier for others running into the same issue.

@JerredH Yes, it did allow the driver assist to work properly and the light bar works great, although the light bar has a backup light on it, which a trailer doesn't have, so there isn't a circuit for it. I was intent on making the back up light work on the lightbar, so I found another low cost Curt wiring kit on-line, wired it along with the 1st one and just used the brown circuit to add a 4th circuit to lit my backup lights. Works great. Wasn't sure if I could just tap into existing wiring with no module without setting off a systems warning on my truck. Maybe that's something Curt could look into in the future, a module with a 4th circuit for lightbars , as they are becoming more and more available.

@DickR Glad you were able to get your light bar up and running! Thanks for the information about how you got your reverse light working.
