Rear Suspension Support

Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause rear sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the weight of your vehicle. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

Installed spring when it is not compressed

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The closed-cell urethane material allows for smooth contact between the springs and your vehicle. And the springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

Installed spring when it is compressed

The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

The helper springs are custom designed to fit your vehicle, and they install easily - no drilling required.

Video Transcript for Review of SuperSprings Intl Vehicle Suspension - Rear Axle Suspension Enhancement - SS66PV

Hi, everyone. Steve here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at our SumoSprings Custom Helper Spring Set for the rear axle. Now, folks, these are a custom-fit application, so I want you to double-check the Fit Guide here at etrailer.com on our homepage where it says My Vehicle Information, enter things like year, make and model. Make sure you're getting the right parts for your vehicle. Keep in mind, sometimes vehicle's fits could change and the videos could be outdated and it could fit newer year models possibly.

And that being said, these Helper Springs are gonna upgrade your vehicle's rear suspension and give you improved driver control and comfort. What they're gonna do basically is keep your vehicle level when you're towing or hauling a heavy load. They're also gonna help absorb bumps and shocks, and minimize that back-and-forth sway. Now, they use progressive load control, which means these springs will compress according to the weight of the cargo, so for lighter loads, they're gonna compress very easy at first for soft engagement and give you a less bumpy ride, and then when you get super-heavy loads, they're gonna compress a lot more, maybe up to 80% all the way down for support. Now, they work independently from one side to one side, so they're gonna compensate for those off-center loads and reduce body roll during sharp turns.

They are built on a nice, durable microcellular urethane. They work in temperatures from negative 25 degrees Fahrenheit all the way up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Now, these will resist damage caused by oils, road salts, and UV rays. They have minimal lateral expansion, and the springs compressed vertically instead of the sides of 'em so that they're not gonna be easily damaged while operating in tight spaces. And these simply bolt on top.

There's a set screw that comes with each one. Very simple install. They're maintenance-free. There's no air tubes to run, like the air pressure monitor systems, those kind of things. It's a simple one-time install.

You don't have to do any drilling or anything like that. Now, the weight capacity at 50% compression is 1,800 pounds. Now, keep in mind before we go here, adding something like these SumoSprings is not gonna increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity. So, if your vehicle's rated at, let's say, I don't know, 10,000 pounds, these aren't gonna add 1,800 pounds or 3,000 pounds or anything like that, they're just gonna help compensate for that load that's in there and keep your ride height where it needs to be. Well, folks, that's gonna wrap it up for our quick look together today. I'm Steven, thank you for watching, and as always, stay safe while you're towing.

by:

Always the fastest shipping, outstanding customer service and high quality products.

by:

Very easy to install. Will keep my Tundra from squatting too much when I tow.

by:

Added 2” spacers on each side so the Sumosprings touch my frame. Relatively easy to install, but centering on the frame was a challenge as the directions tell you to touch the wire harness bracket. I elected to be slightly off center so the bracket did touch to prevent movement and wire damage. Also, once initial installation is performed, you must remove to tighten, which is not in the directions. Overall, the ride has not changed at all and it helps eliminate the drop from my trailer. Highly recommend!

by:

Great product, fast shipping!!!!

by:

Good product unfortunately it did not solve my ride issue but not at fault of the helper springs. Just bad engineering by GM. The helper springs were very easy to put on, less than an hour to put both front and rears on.

Hello again Monty; I would get the black SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs # SS66PV. These have a capacity of 1,800 lbs so it gives you a bit over the blue without overdoing it. SumoSprings are a great choice if you don't want to go with the air bags since they have a minimal impact on ride quality. That is another bump stop in your picture to help prevent bottoming out. The SumoSprings will engage long before that would so it won't impact their functionality.
