Updated 01/20/2026 | Published 01/18/2026

Question:

Hi Have a long steep asphalt driveway to plow. Tried the auto tension type chains peerless and they didnt make it two snow storms. Dont want to tear up driveway with to aggressive chain so looking at Tc 3229 cam or something close. Tires are LT 275-65R-18. Any help will be appreciated. Thank You JIM

Hey Jim! That chain style would be a good compromise without going to full V-bar studs like the # TC2828CAM. They're pretty aggressive and built to last. However, you will need the # TC2228CAM for the 275/65R18 tires on your 2022 Ford F-250.

What plow are you running?

@JimC I would check your owner's manual and see what it says about chain use. It probably only calls for them on the rear but ultimately it is up to you. There might be clearance issues on the front with turning, the # TC2228CAM are not Class S low-profile chains.

@RobinH Checked owner's manual and states use on rear tires only. Also says Class S chains. Doing the measurements I believe #TC2228CAM will work. Last question is should I also need the rubber tensioners. Thanks JIM

@JimC you don't have to have use the rubber adjusters # TCMA2 but it does make things easier so I would recommend it.
