Can Air Lift Air Bag Kit Install on 2013 Toyota Tacoma with 2 inch Lift Kit

Updated 01/18/2026 | Published 01/14/2026

Question:

Hello! I have a 2013 Toyota Tacoma with a bilstien 5100 leveling kit. Pucks in the back. I believe it’s a 2” leveling kit. I currently have a shell with a rack on top and a bed platform inside. My current setup is bogging down the back. When I go camping it’s kinda a rough ride when it’s fully loaded. I’m Wondering if these airlift air springs 5000 will do the trick for me. And I am also wondering if I need to get anything else to go with it? I’m on a bit of a budget but these price points seem right. I just want to make sure it’ll work for my rig. Thank you

Hey Dylan, yes the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 kit part # AL49DQ that you referenced is a fit for your 2013 Toyota Tacoma and will do a great job reducing the sag in the rear suspension of the truck. Since you have a 2 inch lift on your truck you also would need a lift spacer kit like the part # AL52420 to take up that extra space created by the lift to allow the air bags to engage like they need to. You interested in a compressor?

Thank you for the timely response and clearing up my question! Yes, I am interested in a Compact compressor. I also have one more question. Will this set up still allow me to go off roading? I don’t do anything super advanced mostly just getting my truck to some really cool camping spots which sometimes involve some pretty rough dirt roads. And I’d like to have the confidence that it will preform above and beyond that. If I end up getting into something that causes some more drastic articulation I want to be confident that they won’t tear or break me I end up getting stranded.

@Dylan Right on! For a compressor the Air Lift part # AL25854 would be great option that doesn't break the bank. This air bag kit isn't going to drastically affect your ability to off-road but it won't allow the absolute max articulation of the rear suspension since the bag attaches to the frame and axle and limits a little bit of how far it can hang down. I don't think it would cause you any issues.

Hi Dylan, I have a 2014 Tacoma 4x4 Double Cab with 6.5' bed. Currently have 173,500 miles on it. I installed the Loadlifter 5000, Kit #57300, P/N 92395766 about 9200 miles ago (March 2025). It is setup with two separate air lines and two air valves mounted near the license plate. I typically run about 15 psi for everyday driving, and adjust accordingly when I am towing a trailer, or have a load of mulch or gravel in the bed. I wish that I had purchased this setup when the truck was new. One can keep the bed level when you have a load versus having your headlights shining at the moon. My system holds air pressure consistently. No leaking or bleed-off. With my vehicle usage and driving style I opted not to add a compressor. My 9200 miles include 3 weeks of driving National Forest roads during elk season, all forms of hauling and towing, town & interstate driving. Love this system. No commission--- Pat

We have these on a Tacoma with a 2" Level kit and a Tacoma with a 6" lift. They work well when loaded, they make for a better ride and zero squat. We haul trailers or 1000#+ in the bed constantly. They will work with your set up and should be fine without an additional spacer in the back, as we bought just the airbag set up and installed without additional items. The only down fall of these is when there is no weight on the back the travel doesn't seem to be there an they will hit solid over larger bumps in the road, regardless of whether they are aired up or not. I've came out with a sore back a few times.

Dylan, I installed the LoadLifter 5000 on my 2022 Tacoma. I chose this model because there was no drilling required. I pull a 3,500 pound single axel travel trailer and these work great. I run about 30 PIS when pulling the trailer and 10-15 PSI when not pulling. These keep my truck nice and level. The ride is a little stiffer with these installed but I expected that.

I wish I had installed these sooner. Installation was simple, and I added a T connector on the air lines so I have only one place to fill both airbags up. Easy Peasy. They keep my rig level when I am towing my 3000lb camper, no squat at all. I have a 2021 Tacoma TRD double cab 4x4. No air leakage at all. The price was right. I initially thought about a compressor, but it really didn't fit with my frame style and I didn't want to give up bed space to accomodate it. I have a small manual compressor that I carry and it works just fine. Good luck!
