When the rear sags under a heavy trailer or bed load, steering and braking can get sketchy. The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs add up to 5,000 lbs of load-leveling support between the frame and suspension. They keep the truck level under weight so your handling, traction, and headlight aim stay where they should. With the back end up and even, you get a steadier, more predictable drive on highways or mountain grades.
Every payload is different, so it helps to fine-tune your suspension. These double-convoluted air springs let you adjust air pressure anywhere from 5 psi to 100 psi using the included manual inflation valves. Add air to handle a loaded trailer or dirt bikes in the bed, then drop pressure back down for smooth daily driving. You can even set each side separately to level off-center loads for better balance and control.
Hit potholes or washboard roads without bottoming out. The heavy-duty rubber springs use a double-convoluted design with four layers of reinforced rubber and a braided wire girdle for strength. They cushion contact between the axle and frame, absorb road shock, and help prevent permanent sagging in your leaf springs. The rolled crimp seal keeps the end plates tight for reliable, leak-free performance.
Setting up suspension support doesn’t need shop time. Each kit comes with custom-fit brackets, air springs, hardware, air line, and separate valves for manual inflation. With clear diagrams and basic hand tools, you can bolt them in at home. Once installed, just route your airlines to an easy-to-reach spot on the bumper for quick pressure checks or adjustments before hitting the road.

Ride-Rite springs will not increase your vehicle's weight-carrying capacity. Do not exceed the manufacturer's recommended weight limit.

So far so good. Will be testing out in May on a 1500 mile road trip towing small trailer.
They are not a cure-all; but do help when hauling heavy loads, or towing a travel trailer with my 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road Pick-up.
Working fine after a year. Had a problem with leaks and pressure drop at first. Had to cut and re-install air lines and connectors at the airbag end, several times. But eventually got them to hold pressure. Now only slight air loss over several days.
They really helped to prevent sagging rear end, and minimize bucking when towing a small travel trailer with my Toyota Tacoma.
I still finally had to go with a load distribution hitch with anti-sway device to completely minimize sway while towing.
I installed the air bags and changed both shocks in less then 2 hours!! They went in perfect and the instructions were great. I do think the best part was the online video of the install!!
Thanks
Great product
The directions to were easy to follow and all of the parts were there. The hardest part of the install was removing the bump stops. They added a lot of stability to my Toyota Tacoma and made towing my 3300 lb RV alot less nerve wracking. The only downfall is one of my 1/4 quick connect fittings leaks. I need to order a new one, it's the one that goes on top of the airbag.

Bartholomew, check the air hose end that goes into the leaking fitting. We run into this once in a while where a short section of the hose has a scratch from routhing the line and that causes a leak. Cut the line back a bit where the out side of it is not scratched and the leak is usually fixed. Also being sure to make cut square to the line and making the bend in the line near the fitting as relaxed as possible helps.
Needed to upgrade the airline as if you have some bends and turns the line provided would kink and become unusable other than that they’ve been great and would recommend them.
Product arrived quickly. These air helper springs look very well made. They were relatively easy to install. The difficulties I had were related to the equipment and tools I had (or didn't). I only had hand tools. So the install took a lot longer than suggested. All the parts fit and matched up without interfering with any parts on the vehicle. We'll see how they stand up to use over time.

No problems. Springs still working great.
These are the only airbags we install at our shop. We have tried others and these are the most reliable and toughest ones out there.
These do what they are supposed to do. The installation was a little challenging. The directions were good. Be sure you have the vehicle safely supported on jack stands. DON'T use floor jacks to support the vehicle.
I installed these on my 22’ Tacoma as soon as the UPS guy out them in my hands. Install took 3 hours with floor jacks. *photos include Day Star cradles.
Install was easy and parts functioned as intended!
One of the air line elbows leaked. Had to contact Firestone. They sent me new fittings and air line. Very good customer support from Firestone. I did have to essentially do the installation twice :(
They work great. Essential for a small truck carrying a wide range of loads and/or pulling a trailer.

ProIt makes towing stable & comfortable. Con doesnt hold pressure for more than a week. Have to frequently checkrefill. Lines & fittings leak check good, must be the springs themselves.

Bought these from etrailer in 2018 for my '12 Tacoma. I liked the bags and etrailer so much that I'm back for a set for my '23 Tacoma.
Install is easy. If you're going to haul or tow anything with a Tacoma these bags are a must.
After receiving the wrong air fittings, the replacements I received are also wrong. I will be submitting an RMA and sending the kit back.
I had a friend that runs these while pulling his race car trailer. I put them on my Tacoma and they level it out, and make it ride nice while pulling a trailer or hauling heavy loads. These are definitely worth the buy!
The OEM air bags on my truck developed a leak and my truck was riding by on the frame. The install was an easy install and my truck had an instant better ride. My truck was level and looked like a truck again.
Shipped missing parts necessary for the install. The air fittings at the top of the bag are the wrong sizes and no 5/8” lock nuts. Derails the entire install process and wasted my day now since no one around me stocks the necessary air fittings.
I’ll adjust the rating here once I get the correct parts with the kit - but you’d think with ALL these reviews mentioning the missing parts would make these folks notice and correct the problem.
One of the air helper springs was defective brand new. It had several small pin holes leaking air. Once replaced, the bags did a good job of stabilizing the ride of my Tacoma. Cornering improved greatly, bad sag with a light load disappeared, and the overall ride was much better. However, I would not buy these again for concern they may wear out fairly quickly.
First, my order was processed and shipped on a Sunday. There's not too many companies doing that outside of Amazon. Awesome! If not for UPS delay in Sparks, NV, I would have received my order in less time then mentioned at check out.
Second, my Firestone kit came complete. I was skeptical due to some reviews stating they received the wrong size air hose connector. Not this one. Seems they've worked it out. Kit is installed and doing exactly what I expected.
2023 Tacoma TRD OR.
2.5 lift with Icon AAL
Trailerlife WDH
Hauling 4400 lbs (dry) camp trailer
Reduced squat from 2.5" to 1" at 25psi for comfort. Can easily level, but I prefer slight squat at the tounge.
*truck and trailer pic is on a slope.
Over, great experience!
The kit I received had mismatched air fittings: one was a 3/8npt elbow instead of the required 1/8npt elbow. etrailer sent a replacement elbow and I was able to source a reducer to complete the install as I await the replacement. Glad i checked my parts before I started.
The install is pretty straight forward and the instructions are clear. The fasteners are difficult to access if you are doing the install by yourself. Must have tools include quality hose cutter and two 1-1/8in sockets.
The bags added 1in of lift to my unladen 2023 Tacoma Trail Edition at 5psi; 1-1/2in at 10psi; and 3in at 70psi.
At the 5psi minimum pressure the ride is firmer than stock. On acceleration the back end no longer “stuffs” wich is fine with me.
This is a hard rating to make because the product was defective but the service I got was excellent to a point. One of the airbags leaked very slowly from where the metal ends attached to the rubber. A trailer did a good job and trying to help me fix it by providing replacement tubing and nipples for a while. Then they told me to go to the manufacturer for their warranty. That was also a bit difficult but in the end Firestone replaced the one that was leaking. I spent an enormous amount of time trying to solve the problem with one airbag and the fault was with the manufacturer.
My Tacoma's rear end would droop with the truck bed packed full of racing gear and the car trailer loaded up in tow. Steering would get very light on hilly roads and the trailer safety chains would drag. As shown in the picture, these air springs easily fixed this undesirable towing condition and she rides level and stable with these air springs at 65 psi.
These are great. Game changer for towing heavy items. I discovered these bags when I bought a dodge 2500 with Cummings diesel. It came with a compressor which was nice because it always auto filled the bags when need. Now I have similar bags on a Tacoma without the compressor. They do the same job giving my truck a nice ride when towing, but I have to remember to check the bags for pressure every so often. All that to say, “I love them!!!!!”
I mounted the Firestone airbag system on my 2008 Toyota Tacoma pickup. It was not as easy as the video makes it look (especially on the drivers side) but, it it turned out great. I mounted the compressor in the compartment behind the passenger seat behind the driver (see pic). I mounted the gauge and switch in the compartment between the driver and passenger (see pic). The airbag pictures are when they were holding 70 lbs pressure checking for air leaks. The first picture of the pickup is with 5 lbs air pressure in the bags and the second is with 50 lbs air pressure in the bags. When driving with 5 lbs in the bags it has the normal smooth ride and does a good job at 30 lbs of keeping the back end from sagging when I pull my boat.

Everything is still working great without any leaks. I would highly recommend them for any Tacoma owners.
Definitely help level the truck back out with the camper, and bed full of firewood cooler. Installed very easily, but it did have a clearance issue with a bracket almost touching the gas tank skid plate. Some grinding down and krylon flat black paint fixed that issue. But the little tacoma still needs heavier shocks to slow the travel down when hitting bumps. Especially bridge joints back to blacktop. In all worth the money, just need to set aside more money for better rear shocks to accommodate. May eventually change them to the cradles to keep flex availability. As well as less issues when putting the truck on a lift for service.
I purchased this Firestone Air suspension and installed it myself on my 2017 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab 4x4. Not having a lift, I had to use a creeper and tarps under and beside the truck to do the installation. Installation was pretty straight forward after viewing the video from etrailer a few times and using the provided diagrams. You will need good 3/4" drive hand tools for the installation. An electric or air impact wrench and ratchet also speeds things up. I then installed a mini onboard compressor with remote control for in cab or outside operation. The system has never leaked air but if it did, any time the vehicle is started, the compressor will refill the system. I keep 10 lbs. air pressure in it and raise it to 20 when I haul my dirt bike on my hitch carrier and it compensates nicely and keeps the vehicle level. All good so far.

Still working great as it should and doesnt leak air. The remote controller is really convenient and can be operated from inside or outside the truck. Definitely worth all the work. The shield I fabricated for the compressor keeps road grit etc. Out of the air intake of the compressor which should be a huge help for the life of the system. Love it.
