Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the InfiniteRule Trailer Coupler Lock

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this InfiniteRule trailer coupler lock. This flush style coupler lock is going to secure the trigger latch on your trailer's coupler to deter theft, and the trailer can't be removed from your tow vehicle when it's locked onto your hitch ball. Now, this is going to offer a convenient one key operation, and as you can see, two keys are included with this, and this weather resistant tethered dust cap is going to keep water and debris out of the keyway. And let me go ahead and just show you how to unlock this and open this.

So I'm gonna stick one of our keys in and then just turn this counterclockwise. And then that's going to loosen this lock up as I keep turning, just turn this like a screw. And so as you can see, that brings it, you're able to take the lock apart. I did wanna point out that there's an O-ring here that's going to protect the internal components from dirt and grime. And the diameter of this pin is a quarter of an inch.

And this is made here in the USA of a heavy duty stainless steel construction. And let me go ahead and bring a coupler out here, just an example of a coupler, and show you how you would operate this in case you don't know. I'm just gonna slide this through here, through our trigger latch here, and then line this back up like so. And then I'm gonna turn the key clockwise and then that's going to bring my lock together, tighten it up. And then I wanted to show you, and hopefully you can see, around the key ring, we do have these marks or hash marks and that is to let you know, once you have this nice and tight, you're just going to back off to the nearest hash mark there around that ring and then that's going to allow you to remove the key and then you replace your cap.

And as you can see, that's going to do a great job of keeping your couplers secure on your hitch ball and you're not gonna be able to unlock that. So again, just to remove this, stick the key in, turn counterclockwise like a screw. Remove it and get my coupler out of the way here. So as I said, this is made of heavy duty stainless steel construction, so you're not gonna have to worry about rusting. So again, I've got this nice and tight.

I'm just gonna back off to the nearest hash marks there, pull the key out, close my cap. Now, I wanted to point out in case you didn't know that InfiniteRule products do undergo extensive third-party testing to determine shear strength. Now, the shear strength is determined by placing the locking pin in a stress position and subjecting it to increasing force until a required proof load or maximum load received without deformity is met or the pin fails. So this locking pin has a shear strength of 42,000 pounds. Now, just to give you some measurements here, the overall length of this pin, we're sitting a little over three inches, about 3 1/16 inches long. And inside pin length or the span or also called the usable pin length, looks like we're sitting right about 1 5/8 inches on that inside pin length.
