eZ-Latch Coupler

This coupler features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the eZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic. Disengaging the coupler is just as effortless. Simply lift up the contoured handle and the coupler socket will automatically release its grip on the ball.

Demco eZ-Latch in Use

Sturdy, Corrosion-Resistant Construction

Made of sturdy steel, this coupler features a durable zinc coating that has a 200-hour salt spray rating, which is designed to limit rust and corrosion. The eZ-Latch's sleek, ergonomically designed handle is constructed of a durable composite material that's corrosion-proof, allowing it to withstand whatever the road and the elements dish out.

We are very pleased with the product we ordered and are grateful the timely, free shipment! We always appreciate the service we receive from etrailer.

by:

Really heavy duty. Well made.

by:

Ordered the wrong one got a quick exchange and got the correct one very quickly.
Nice job.

by:

We installed this on a customer's trailer. Everything is great and they're still using it. What we did not like about the product is the plastic lift handle. We prefer a more durable handle as this was installed on a trailer to be used around a farm.

by:

Very heavy duty piece 5/16 steel. I have not installed yet, dis like the fact that it come with a plastic handle as well as no instructions or recommendation as to what hardware they recommend. A little disappointing but when in doubt grd 10.9

the eZ-latch gets stuck all the time, never had a latch do that before. Would not buy another one

You mentioned that the EZ latch has been stuck and so I reached out to the manufacturer. There are a few questions that they wanted to ask. Is it stuck in the closed position? Have you coupled to the coupler when the handle was open? It is possible that the stem inside the coupler is bent which would cause this issue.

Thank you for this. Answers are:Gets stuck in the closed position when its coupled to ball hitch 90 percent of the time I have coupled when handle was open It is possible the stem is bent… not sure how to tell

The stem is going to be hard to get to as it is under the handle. When coupling with this coupler you would want to make sure that the handle is always in the closed position when coupling. When it is in the open position it can bend the stem which would cause the handle to become potentially stuck. You could repair it by using the latch repair kit part # DM6008.

by:

Well constructed and works great!

by:

  • Bolt Size to Install Demco 50-Degree A-Frame Trailer Coupler w/ Jack Hole - eZ-Latch
The bolts required to install the Demco 50-Degree A Frame Trailer Coupler # DM13205-95 are 3/8" diameter x 1-3/4" long Grade 5 bolts. I spoke with the manufacturer and they confirmed that you won't want to use Grade 8 bolts on this install since they won't provide enough flex and may end up shearing through the coupler frame or breaking off completely.

Thanks for that photo, I do appreciate it. And all of the couplers we have - and indeed all the ones I am aware of - require a frame that is fully engaged. While Demco was not able to provide a dimensional drawing, we did measure the Demco 50-Degree A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DM13205-95. As you can see it is 17-5/8" long in total, and 8-5/8" behind where the actual coupler portion is.

There aren't any safety chain loops on the Demco coupler part # DM13205-95 that you referenced because you want to attach the chains to the trailer frame and not to the coupler itself incase for some reason the coupler was to come off at the welds. For safety chain loops that you could weld to your trailer frame we have the part # E950.
