Recommended Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicles to Disable Stop Lamp Switch

Updated 12/17/2025 | Published 12/16/2025

Question:

I am considering installing a Curt Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicles - 20-Amp ATM Mini-Fuse - Short Lead Part Number: C93HR in my 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Sarah Unlimited. I intend to remove my M1 15-amp Fuse to prevent the Stop Lamp Switch from activating during flat towing. I would like to confirm if this is the correct part and if I need to extend the wiring to reach my fuse box from the dashboard to mount the switch. The estimated length of the additional wiring would be between 4 to 8 feet, depending on the mounting location. Could you please guide me on how to purchase the necessary parts from etrailer?

Hey Danny, welcome back. The Curt Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicles item # C93HR will replace your M1 15-amp fuse. it'll allow you to deactivate the Stop Lamp Switch on your 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Sarah Unlimited. You'll need to mount it closer to your fuse box. The harness is only 14-1/2" long so it's not going to make it 4' - 8' away.

Please note that some flat tow braking systems still utilize the stop light switch. If yours does it won't work correctly and you'll need to use the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles item # RM-88400. This bypasses the switch and fixes the tail light signal issues but it doesn't completely disable it.

I didn't see any order information. What kind of braking system are you using?
