Hi Doug!

The answer to both of your questions is yes! We haven't had a chance to install this on a Highlander as of yet, oddly enough, but as long as you already have a hitch installed, you are good to go. If you don't have a hitch, I would grab the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e75ZR. It fits all versions of Highlander for 2023, including the Hybrid and XSE, and the matte finish makes it look more stock than the gloss finish other manufacturers use. And it's American made!

As to your step-thru bikes, this can clamp onto the seat post, frame, and even the wheels. It is very versatile and works with basically any bike. The 70 pound capacity per bike makes it able to carry a wide variety of e-bikes as well, though we do still recommend removing the battery when on the rack.

On that note, and out of curiosity, what kind of bikes do you have?

@Doug Those are pretty cool! Quite the range on them too. What is the longest journey you have made with them?
