Will Echo In-Line Fit 2020 Kia Telluride With Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness 7-Way

Updated 11/30/2025 | Published 11/28/2025

Question:

Hello, I’m trying to find out if the Curt echo in line brake controller will work on my 2020 Kia Telluride with tow package if I already installed Curt t connector for the 7 way plug part C68JR. When I look up the part it says it’s incompatible with the 2020 Kia telluride. However, I’d like to know if this is because the Telluride does not come standard with a 7 way plug or if it is incompatible because of the onboard electronics? Thanks,

Hey Eduardo! The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C68JR uses a USCAR connector so it is possible to install the Curt Echo In-Line Bluetooth Brake Controller # C79DR. Brake controller fitment isn't always 100% accurate. In this case it is likely as you said, because it doesn't come standard with a 7-way.

Are you planning to switch from the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED52VR to the Echo? The Liberty is a really reliable brake controller, and it doesn't really take up space in the cab, so I personally prefer it over the Echo. The physical control knob makes it a lot easier to use vs an app and then you don't have to worry about connecting/pairing.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I would much have preferred the red arc, however my 2020 Kia unfortunately did not have the brake controller plug under the dash despite it having the factory tow package and I don’t not want to run wires so this Curt echo in line brake controller would be the next best thing.

@EduardoB you can still install it, you have to find the factory wires and splice in. If you want to use it I would see if Kia has any information on the location of the wires from the factory connector you plugged the Curt 7-way into. There should be a brake output wire running up there somewhere under the dash. I think all of our installations on the Telluride involved the # ETBC7 universal harness so I don't know where those factory wires are. You may be able to find it on forums or YouTube as well.
