Question:
Will the Dexter 7K ABS brakes fit Lippert axles rated the same?
asked by: Dan
Expert Reply:
Dan, they won’t. The Dexter 7K ABS brakes # DX69WR / # DX79WR are specifically designed for Dexter Tow Assist axles - the flange offset and ABS tone ring position are unique to Dexter’s design. On Lippert 7K axles, the sensor alignment won’t match, so ABS won’t function correctly and they won't be able to plug into the same connectors/harness.
If you’ve got Lippert axles, stick with Lippert’s standard electric brakes - they’re not cross-compatible with Dexter’s ABS components.

Appreciate the explanation, Andrew. Mine are definitely Lippert axles, but the setup looks almost identical. If I swapped to Dexter axles later, would my current Tow Assist light and harness still work, or would that need to be changed too?
