Hi Kevin!
We have a bunch of options that will replace the AC on your 2018 Forest River Salem 36BHBS. It looked like you have one AC on your roof? Little surprising due to the size of your camper, but I have three options listed below:
Good: Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 13,500 Btu - Black - R32 # ADV85SR
Better: Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - Black - R32 # ADV62SR
Best: Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w Air Distribution Box, Thermostat - Ducted - 18,000 Btu - Black # FR49TD
The Good option looks to be an exact replacement for what you have now, other than the R32 coolant that all manufacturers were required to change to in 2025. This was to meet new EPA regulations and none of the parts for these new ones are backwards compatible with models built prior to 2025, so a whole new system is required.
The Better option is pretty similar to the Good option, but has a little more power. It will do a better job of cooling your camper down, but not significantly. Both the Good and Better options include all the same equipment as well, being as they are both Advent systems.
The Best option is the Furrion Chill Cube. It has a good amount more power and you will absolutely notice a difference, especially if you are traveling to hotter climates to camp. Furrion also makes the quietest units on the market and are the only ones that will cool the interior of your camper 30 degrees lower than the ambient outside temperature (all other brands only rate it to 20 degrees below ambient). If you do indeed only have one AC on your roof, this is the one I would go for. It is more expensive, but I really don't like being hot. My Slavic ancestry makes me not do so well in the heat. Or is it due to being a "large" dude? Nah, I'm gonna stick to it being my ancestry. : P
One thing to note though; the Best option # FR49TD is only for a ducted set up. I couldn't tell what you have, so if you have a ductless set up you will need the # FR27TD. This doesn't include a wall thermostat yet, but it does still include the remote so you don't have to reach up and adjust things on the ceiling.
Any more trips planned for the year?

Hey Kevin, how did things go with replacing the AC on your Forest River Salem? Did one of the Advent or Furrion options end up being the right fit for your setup? Your update could make it easier for others working on similar campers.
