I had Curt 80136 cables and they would not clip onto my 2.5 inch OD receiver hooks. Are the hooks on the 80176 the same size or larger?

The Curt Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables part # C80136 contain s-hooks that are 3/8" diameter and the Curt Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables part # C80176 contain s-hooks that are 1/2" diameter. The 3/8" diameter s-hooks would be much too small for the safety chain loops on your 2-1/2" trailer hitch but the 1/2" ones should work well for you. They have a 7,500 lb capacity and measure 42" long.
