Will MORryde X-Factor Help Keep Frame Aligned
Updated 10/05/2025 | Published 09/26/2025 >
Question:
I have a 2017 jayco eagle ht fifth wheel. Recently, I found my cross member had cracks by the axles beneath the underbelly. The reason I looked was my lci jacks would not auto level and would not move properly even when I tried manually leveling. Also the living room slide started to thump when starting to slide out and then thump right when it was almost closed. Im concluding the cracked cross member is allowing the frame/ chassis to twist not allowing me to level and should be repaired. My question is, if I use these cross bars Will they fix my problem by keeping the frame aligned and secured? I would still repair the cracked cross member.

Hey Bill, welcome back! Did you experience anything in particular like rough roads or do you have some really heavy cargo on that side? Maybe it just gave out over time. Regardless, adding the MORryde X-Factor Crossmember # MR33WR will definitely help. These will add a lot of lateral strength overall so it will cut down that frame movement and also help keep any other crossmembers from failing. I would add one to each set of hangers (three assuming tandem axle) for maximum stability and strength.

Thanks Robin, I think it was just fatigue failure. Of course the roads in Illinois aren't the best. We've gone over some pretty rough terrain in our travels. My next question is when I go to repair the cracks which is actually on both sides. I just forgot to get a pic of the passenger side but it also is cracked. Is there a procedure on lining the chassis before welding the cross member? I don't want to weld it up and find out it's still twisted. I'm assuming once I make the necessary repairs I should be able to rehome my jacks because I attempted several times with the trailer in its current state and it wasn't having it. I did read if the chassis is out of wack, it won't rehome.
