Does 2025 Chevy Silverado 2500 Short Bed Truck Need Slider Hitch
Updated 03/05/2026 | Published 03/01/2026 >
Question:
How about fixing your website and allowing to remove a vehicle once youve searched it. Also, you give bad advice for newer model GM trucks with the 6 10 bed. You only show sliding 5th wheel options. Newer GM trucks dont need a slider and companies like BandW actually advise against a slider.

Hit the little gray x to the left of where it has the vehicle info listed and you can select a new vehicle. Or hit the change vehicle button to the right. Maybe you tried those already though and it wasn't working?
Does you 2025 Silverado have the OEM puck kit? While the new GM puck kits are pushed back a few inches that's normally not enough to guarantee you'd have enough turning clearance. The Companion hitch that fits the OEM pucks would be the part # BWRVK3710.

I have a 2025 GMC HD with a standard bed with the factory puck system . I installed a non-slider hitch. I have plenty of clearance for my 2023 5th wheel when I turn. To answer your question! You do not need a slider.

I have the 3710 in my 2024 Chev 2500 with the 6’10” bed. It works really well good with a 2020 Reflection 320 mks. As long as you have a 5th wheel that has the newer extended pin box which puts the king pin pretty much within a few inches of the nose of the trailer, you’ll be fine. I think a slider hitch would only be necessary if your king pin was back under the nose by a foot or so. The other nice feature of the 3710 is the smaller footprint in your bed. I can fit 4 sets of golf clubs between the hitch and the tailgate, stacked on top of each other.

I’ve had this hitch on my 24 gmc hd 2500 for two years. I love it. I have a standard box bed and have had no need for the slider hitch. I hope this helps. Cheers

I have a 2020 3500 Silverado HD with 6’10” bed and a 2023 Outdoors RV Glacier Peak. I have used the B&W Companion non-slider hitch for two years now without any real problems. In some tighter situations I have come close to contacting the cab and have had to stop to reposition or to start over.

A less-expert but "I own this" response: I have a 2500 with the 6'10" bed. I bought the B&W not-slider hitch at the advice of the team at Bish's. Heads up: they advised me to buy this one *despite not carrying it in their store and specifically told me to go to etrailer to buy it* so this wasn't a dealer scam thing. Or maybe less of a dealer scam thing idk. (Bish's treated us really well for this transaction and did a great job all around, other dealers we've worked with in the past did everything they could to sell us everything they had in stock, Bish's went out of their way to make sure we were happy even if it cost them a couple dimes, so credit where it's due.) Anyway. They said it wasn't necessary because my 5th wheel trailer's configuration allows a lot of clearance around the pinbox. *YOUR TRAILER MIGHT BE DIFFERENT* so consider the trailer *and* the hitch *and* the bed length *and* the puck location. We're starting season 3 with this trailer and I've had no issues despite having some very tight back-in situations. I'm pulling an Alliance Avenue 32rls, if that helps. Keep in mind the fine folks at etrailer here are trying to answer the *safe* way. If you've got a trailer that's got different nose-end clearance, a slider hitch might be a better idea. Best thing to do if you're buying an RV from an RV dealer is...talk to the dealer. If you don't trust the dealer to give you new advice...maybe...find another one? They're supposed to be helping you with this stuff, they're supposed to be good at it.
