Does the etrailer Hitch Block the Foot Sensor on a 2024 Lincoln Nautilus?

Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 09/11/2025

Question:

I read that if a trailer hitch is installed the rear activated foot sensor for the trunk to open under the rear bumper area needs to be relocated. Is that the case?

No, not that we've heard of Fred. If the etrailer hitch item # e97ZV were to block a foot activated sensor it would just be around the 2" receiver. You wouldn't want to kick there anyways so you'd just need to go to the left or right of the receiver.

The etrailer Hitch item # e97ZV has been confirmed to fit a 2024 Lincoln Nautilus. This custom fit class III hitch has a 2" receiver, with a 3,500 lbs towing capacity and a maximum tongue weight of 350 lbs. It includes all hardware necessary to complete installation.

What do you plan on using the hitch for?

Hey Fred, did you have a chance to try out the hitch with your Lincoln Nautilus? I'm curious if the foot sensor worked as expected. Your experience could really help others considering this setup!
