Suspension Enhancement for 2023 Nissan Frontier With Truck Bed Camper and Motorcycle

Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 09/01/2025

Question:

In a 2023 Frontier S model King cab with 6 foot bed. Will be installing a truck bed aluminum camper that weighs about 300lbs, and with my 200 lbs plus and another 200lbs of gear and a 300+ lb motorcycle in the back,..seems like I’m at risk for an overloaded Frontier. I was looking at these Sumo bumpstops, or the Timbren active off-road bumpstops? Do i need to be looking at a leaf spring upgrade or another alternative? Not really looking for serious off roading, thats what the motorcycle is used for, but lots of highway miles and maybe some easy forest roads.

Hi Jay! I recommend adding the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SS46EV. Even with all of that loaded in the back you aren't going over the 1,800 lb capacity of the SumoSprings so they're the best option. SumoSprings will help smooth out your ride, reduce sway, and reduce rear sag.

These also have a minimal impact on unloaded ride quality so you won't have a rough ride when you aren't hauling your camper around. Keep in mind, suspension enhancement isn't capable of increasing the capacity of your truck so you're always going to be limited to those factory specs.

Where do you typically take your camper and motorcycle?

Hi Jay! Did the SumoSprings help with your ride and handling when you have your camper and motorcycle loaded up? I'm curious about your experience because it could help others looking to improve their truck's performance.
