Availability Of Front Hitch For 2022 Ram 4500 Diesel

Updated 08/29/2025 | Published 08/28/2025

Question:

I have been looking for a front hitch for my 2022 RAM 4500 - and all I can find are like this C73ZV - says it fits my truck except for diesels! Is there a version for a diesel?

Hello Jerry, thanks for reaching out. At this time we offer only two front hitches for the 2022 Ram 4500, the Curt # C73ZV and Draw-Tite # DT36MR. I am sorry to say these hitches will not fit the Diesel model, and there is nothing available that does.

The only option would be to take a universal multi-fit hitch like the Curt Class V Universal Weld-on Receiver # 15902 to a welder and have them fabricate something to fit.

What are you wanting to use the front hitch for?

Intended uses would be for a hitch mounted winch, a front cargo tray, and occasionally pushing a trailer into places where backing in requires too much help! I have also looked into very expensive aftermarket bumpers that would integrate a winch and front hitch - All I have found will not work without eliminating front sensors - and I for sure don't want to give up my front parking assist and Automatic Cruise Control!

@JerryM Yes good point. Even if you were to have a hitch fabricated, it still might affect those sensors, and might mean a good amount of modification. I bet that truck wasn't cheap so I wouldn't be too keen on modifying it either. I wish I had better news for you, but it might not be realistic putting a front hitch on your truck.

@JesseM I just can't accept that no one makes a hitch that would work. I realize that while "using" the front hitch I could be blocking sensors, and it may mean that I would never actually use a front carrier, but a removeable winch and receiver for a ball mount should be workable! Especially since most 450/4500 550/5500 trucks are NOT available with a gas engine! I know there have been gas engine option years, but it has been a very small market.

@JerryM So this is a problem with most Diesel trucks. I have heard of people retrofitting the "gas model" hitches and making them work but it requires a lot of modification way beyond what is covered in the instructions. So there is definitely some risk involved if you want to give it a try.
