Hey Steve! Welcome back and congrats on the new SUV. To add a hitch and 4-way wiring harness to your new 2026 Mazda CX-5, you'll need the following parts:

Hitch - Curt item # C72RJ

4 -Way Wiring Harness - Curt item # C45FV

The Curt Hitch item # C72RJ is class III hitch with a 2" receiver, that has a 2,000 lbs towing capacity and a maximum tongue weight of 200 lbs. It'll work great for towing a small trailer or hauling an accessory like a bike rack or cargo carrier. This custom fit hitch comes with all hardware necessary for the installation.

The Curt 4-Way Wiring Harness item # C45FV is also custom fit. It's going to plug in behind your Mazda's rear tail light assemblies. You will not have to cut or splice any wires to complete the installation. It's going to provide you with a 4-way connector capable of controlling your trailer or accessories lighting functions.

If you plan on towing you'll also need the Trailer Valet Ball Mount w/ 2" Ball item # TV37ZR. This ball mount comes with a pre-installed 2" hitch ball along with a hitch pin and clip.

What do you plan on using your new hitch for?

Thank you so much! I plan on renting a U-Haul trailer to take my daughter and all her stuff to college in Mississippi next month.

@Steve You're welcome! That's awesome! I just took my daughter on a tour of Ole Miss's compass last month. I plan on doing the same thing in three years. I hope you have a great trip and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.
