What Hitch and Trailer Wiring do I Need for My 2025 Hyundai Tucson?

Updated 09/15/2025 | Published 08/26/2025

Question:

Hello, i have a new 2025 Hyundai Tuscon SEL that did not come factory wired for a trailer. Can you tell me if there is a plug and play port somewhere on my car? i searched high and low in the left rear wheel well area, i can see the standard tail light wiring but no plug. if there is a port, can you tell me if there is an aftermarket harness that would plug into this, allowing me to plug in and pull a trailer. I asked my dealer but they were clueless on if this car can even be wired for a trailer. Thank you

Hello Dan,

Congrats on the new 2025 Hyundai Tucson! What is your new favorite feature?

At this time there is not any "plug-n-play" wiring for the 2025 Hyundai Tucson, I am sure the aftermarket guys are working hard to come up with a wiring harness. The vehicle must have had electrical changes from the 2024 to the 2025, so you will have to check back.

If you wanted to splice in a harness, you could go with the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236.

Looks like the frame did not change though, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C94WR that you were looking at will be a great fit!

Need a ball mount? Make sure to grab our etrailer Ball Mount w/ Pre-Torqued 2" Ball - 2" Hitch - 2-3/4" Rise - 7,500 lbs # e38NR.

What are you looking to tow with your new Tucson?

Hey Dan, Thanks for reaching out about your 2025 Hyundai Tucson. Did you decide to go with the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter for your trailer wiring needs? I'd love to hear how it worked out for you, as it could help others with similar vehicles.

@KateF Thank you Kate, I will check that out when I get a chance and get back to you. I stopped at the parts counter at our local dealership and Hyundai actually does have the harness with module, but they want $264 for it. It plugs right into a port that’s already in the car, under the hatch where the spare tire is stored

@DanM I cannot believe they are charging that much for trailer wiring Dan! You already pay so much for the car, why not throw in the harness. I really hope the aftermarket guys get something figured out. Thanks for letting me know.
