Hi everyone, Bruce here at Trailer. Today we're gonna take a look at and install our TowSmart Class 3 Hitch on our 2025 Kia Sportage. Now we do have a two-inch-by-two-inch receiver opening here, and we have some nice safety chain loops that are welded on that will accept pretty much all your safety chain hooks, and your standard S-hook, fits nicely. We also, your hitch will not come with 5/8 pinch, which you're gonna need for any of your accessories. And clip will slide that in, put your clip in. Now, we also have the option of lock cores here that you can have extra security with a lockable pin.
Now, our gross vehicle trailer weight on this hitch is 4,500 pounds with a 675 pound tongue weight, which is the down force on any weight you have that you're towing, whether it be a cargo carrier or a trailer. So now, we're gonna take some measurements. The first measurement I'm gonna take is actually from the middle of the pinhole to the outside of the bumper. And you're looking at about five and a half inches. And the reason we're looking at that is it's gonna, you may need a longer tube that connects here, especially if you're doing a bike rack or any folding accessories that may fold up to clear your bumper.
Now the second measurement we're gonna take is our ground clearance and you're looking at about 12 and a half inches to the bottom of the tube. That is plenty of space there, but keep in mind if you've got a shank that is dropped, just keep that in mind for any steep inclines or the weight you may put in a cargo carrier or any accessories. As far as the installation goes, it is pretty easy. This hitch was a little bit tight going in, but it is very manageable. If you don't want to tackle that yourself at home, check out our dealer locator on etrailer.com.
But if you want to do it yourself, stick around, I'll show you how. First thing we need to go ahead and do is remove our underbody panel here. We've got four push pins, 1, 2, 3, and four. We're gonna take a screwdriver, go ahead and push in on the side, pop that down and then pull it out. Skip this one.
That one stays, so do not remove that one. Go to the next one, remove it, the third one, and we will skip this one and go to the last one, and pop it out. Now we've got three plastic nuts that are remaining that we need to go ahead and unscrew and pull this whole panel down. And once you get 'em partially off, you can just go ahead and pull the panel down. It'll kind of ratchet on those screws a little bit. We're gonna remove that, and we'll set it aside, and we don't need to reuse it. Now I did find it easier to go ahead and remove this because we do have bolts that are going in on the side, it kind of gets, makes it difficult to get a ratchet up in here. So we're gonna go ahead and remove this panel. It's just got two push pins on the bottom. We'll poke those out like we did earlier on the other one. And we will take our 14 millimeter socket just like we did earlier. Go ahead and with a little downward pressure, loosen these up. And once we pull that down, we do need to set this aside. Keep it because we will put this path. Now with that extra set of hands, we're gonna go ahead and lift the hitch in place and get our bolts started. We're gonna go with the bottom one. I am gonna run this bolt up so we can align our side holes. This hitch is a little tight, so if we can make this work. (drill drilling) We're just gonna repeat that same process on the passenger side. Now keep in mind it kind of one side went in and the other side was a little tough to get around the frame here, but it looks like it will be a good fit. Now with those holes aligned, we can go ahead and put our other bolts in. Keep in mind, I do want to show you something on the washers, the teeth on these washers, there's teeth on one side. Make sure that's facing the hitch. Yep, we're gonna come back with our 17 millimeter and go ahead and snug these down and then we'll come back by and torque them down. (drill drilling) Now that we do have those bolts snug down, we're gonna go ahead and grab our torque wrench and torque them down to the manufacturer's specifications. If you don't have a torque wrench, we do carry 'em here at etrailer, or you can rent one from your local auto parts store. With everything torqued down, and our hitch in place, we can go ahead and put our panel that we removed on the passenger side back in. That does complete our installation of our TowSmart Class 3 Trailer Hitch on our 2025 Kia Sportage. I'm Bruce. Thanks for watching.
It was delivered very fast! Came with bolts to anchor to my Tucson. Looked like the anchor bracket on each end of rack were bent out a little but it was fine. Mounted it by myself in about 1.25hrs. Used a bucket and a piece of wood to support one side and then the other side I got one bolt started. Then the other side I used a bottle jack to lift it into place as it was very tight. I also used a 2 lb hammer to adjust a little. This was easy to get into place and get bolted into place. I would buy again if I needed one. etrailer has been good to ship out fast. The only thing to remember is there is no support bracket for your 4 pin wire plug.
Installed on 2025 Hyundai Tuscon PlugIn which was NOT listed as a model. Completed in about 20 minutes, removing both exhaust hangers. Wish they included torque value (50 ftlbs) in video as did not discover needed to check qwerty code until after was installed and could not take pics.

Hey John, I’ve got an answer for you regarding the torque specs! Manufacturers sometimes update torque specs for various reasons, so we’ll often recommend checking the instructions you got for the most accurate info. I know that’s not always ideal, especially if you’re following one of our videos and have to pause to track down the instructions, but it’s the best way to ensure you're working with the latest specs. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. And thank you for confirming the hitch fits the 2025 Tucson Plug-In, that’s super helpful info for others too!
Overall, a positive purchase experience. I would recommend this site to everyone! The website is well constructed making it easy to search for the correct hitch and compare options. Installation video gave me the courage to do it myself. I would never have thought installing a hitch would be so easy though it's heavy and hard to lift into place if you are working by yourself. (Be forewarned!) The price also seemed reasonable. My one issue is with the shipping. It arrived quickly and one day earlier than expected - but like some other reviews I read - the hitch broke through the cardboard box it's shipped in. The hitch is secured in the box to keep it from moving up and down but not shifting side to side, which allowed one mounting bracket and the hitch to break through the box. I think that could be prevented if etrailer would insert blocks of styrofoam or rolls of cardboard between the hitch and the walls of the box so it doesn't rock back and forth. I would think the shipping companies would also be happy to not transport something with a hunk of metal jutting out of the box. A small issue. I would buy again without hesitation from etrailer. Now my wife and I need to buy the rack for our bikes!
Box came in damaged with the rack half hanging out looked rough but after inspection it was just a small scratch, in my opinion just gives credence to the quality of the rack. Install was a breeze with the video found on the website although my vehicle is probably one of the easiest I have ever seen. The Fit was premium fit perfectly and went in without an issue. Highly recommend a buddy or cut a deadman/ use your jack for the other side. I think the directions fell out of the box in shipping but the excellent customer service rep was able to send them to me in less than a 5 min chat. If I ever need a rack again I know where I will go and I know who to recommend people ordering from.

So glad this was a snap for your '25 Hyundai Tucson! Super happy to hear it's been a good experience so far :) What all will you be towing?
Box came damaged...but you got right back to me....all good....installerxwas very happy that my hitch came from you!
Very hefty product and a perfect fit on my vehicle, easy installation. Will handle everything I throw at it.
Much easier than last installation. Good video. Excellent video.
The six bolts do not fit our Hyundai Tucson. Need to send the right bolt. The mechanic could not install.
Instructional videos are a great help. It took a little TLC with a floor jack to get it into place, but it's in and doing the job. Can't knock the fact it was shipped the same day it was ordered or the fact this company goes to lengths to ensure you will be satisfied with the product.
Just as described. Easy install with the video support.
Fit the car perfectly, videos from etrailer were very helpful.
The receiver is performing great.
Always good with etrailer
only reason 4 stars is because box was damaged allowing hitch to be exposed to paint damage. No big deal, but somewhat disappointing.
Installation was a bit tight but went in after a few sledge suggestions. Overall quality seems very good!

Mr. Sledge is pretty good with his words.
Very easy install. Very happy with the product.
This is the first of 2 reviews. Ordering the product was fast and simple. It was shipped promptly. The actual shipment was a bit beat up. I'm going to install the hitch and see if anything was compromised in shipping.
Fit perfectly and installed in just a few minutes with my son’s help to hold it in place. Watched install video for my vehicle and it was exactly the same experience. Thanks!
Need to upgrade packaging. Hitch poked thru and knicked the hitch finished
Perfect fit, easy install

Bucket and a piece of wood - love it! Making do with what you have is the way to go. Thanks for the photo, too, Mark!
