Replacement AC Unit for a Coleman Mach 8

Published 08/26/2025

Question:

Hi, Im looking for a replacement rear rooftop ac unit for my 2019 Nexus Ghost 34 Ds. It has a Coleman mach 8, model 47203B879 on it now. Its 9 1/2 tall and Ive made it so it uses the ceiling ducts. Im looking for easy start and super quiet. What would you recommend for a replacement? Its on a thermostat all by itself. Thanks

Thanks for the information Randy. To replace your Coleman Mach 8, you'll want the Furrion Chill HE Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Coleman Setup item # FR62PV in black or item # FR82PV in white. This includes an adapter wiring kit that enables the AC to work with your existing Coleman setup. It will be a complete plug and play installation. It has a built in start capacitor and the dual motors make it super quiet.

Are you interested in upgrading to a 15,000 btu unit? We also have the Furrion Chill HE Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Coleman Setup item # FR32PV, which has the same plug in adapter.

Yes, I would be interested, would it work with the added draw for amperage with the current wiring & breaker?

@RandyS Not sure what size breaker or wire you're currently running but you'll need a 20 amp breaker with 12 gauge wire to run the 15,000 btu item # FR32PV.

Also I see that it is 13.5 " tall , mine is 9.5" , I'm not sure I want the extra height, since we are already at 13'

@Randy You would need to replace the entire system then, not just the rooftop ac unit. All of the newer replacement options for the Coleman Mach 8 have the R32 coolant in them. The individual components are not backwards compatible with anything made prior to 2025.

I'm not sure what you mean, I am looking to replace the rooftop unit, that is the whole thing to me, what else is there? Is there a lower profile model?

@RandyS That's not the whole thing, item # FR62PV is only the rooftop AC unit. Replacing the entire system would mean installing a setup like the Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner System item # ADV82SR, which includes an AC unit, air box, thermostat, and start capacitor.

OK, I think I get it, if it fits the hole in the roof, the air box should fit, what about the thermostat, would I have to pull new wires? Is that possible? What about a model like Furrion FR 49AD its lower height is closer to my original height. Thanks for your patience.

@RandyS The Furrion Chill HE Low-Profile Replacement RV Roof Air Conditioner Unit item # FR49AD is just the AC unit. In order to install this AC in place of your Coleman Mach 8, you would need the Furrion Chill HE Low-Profile RV AC System w/ Heat Pump item # FR76AD. This comes with a new AC unit, air distribution box, and thermostat. You can use your existing wiring but everything else related to the Coleman Mach 8 you're replacing will need to go.
