Question:
I have a 2025 Nissan Frontier S Crew Cab/short bed. The vehicles maximum towing capacity is 6,350 lbs. Im looking for a hitch with a similar capacity. Is there a class III hitch system that can tow more than 5,000 lbs WITHOUT the addition of a weight distributing hitch system?

Hi Damon!
All the hitches we have for your 2025 Nissan Frontier will need a weight distribution system to get above the 5,000 pound capacity. This is likely due to the 4,500 pound curb weight of your truck (4x4 options). You really don't want what you are towing to weigh more than 50% of the vehicle's curb weight without using weight distribution.
With that said, I recommend going with the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98869. This gives you 5,000 pounds of regular towing and 8,000 pounds of weight distribution towing, is an easy bolt on application (we rate it a 3 out of 10), and is American made. The matte black finish also blends in with vehicles better than the gloss finish of most hitches.
What are you planning on towing with your Frontier?

Hi Damon, Did you decide to go with the etrailer hitch for your Frontier? I'm curious how it worked out for your towing needs, especially since it offers a higher capacity with weight distribution. Your experience could really help others looking for similar solutions!
