Question:
what is the difference between the etrailer hitch and the drawtite. Is drawtite worth the extra money.

Expert Reply:
Both hitches are class 3 with 2x2 inch receiver openings and both can use weight distribution systems.
I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98869. A notable difference is the safety chain loops, on the etrailer hitch they are a horizontal welded loop under the receiver opening that will not take away from your ground clearance.
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75282 has welded on wire harness mount tab, this gives you a good location to secure your wire harness connections with Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat # 18144. If you look at the safety chain loops they are welded to the sides of the receiver and drop down below the tube, this gives you a more slender profile but takes away a couple inches of ground clearance.

Looking at the 3D view of the Draw-Tite hitch #75282, it appears that the chain loops do not drop below the 2" receiver tube. It looks like they are flush with the bottom of the 2" tube. Am I not seeing this correctly? If you could provide any insight into this, it would be greatly appreciated. I am looking to purchase a hitch and am leaning towards the #75282 but not if there are tabs below the 2" receiver tube. If they do extend below the hitch, that is a horrible design and makes no sense, as they clearly do not need to. Thank you.
