Question:
I have a 2025 Subaru ascent and Im looking at getting either the eTrailer or Curt hitches. What are my options for mounting a 4pin wiring harness? I dont want to have it come out the trunk, but there isnt a mount plate on either the Curt or eTrailer like there is on the Drawtite hitch. Do you have any recommendations for where I could mount it?

Hey Justin, for your 2025 Subaru Ascent the best trailer wiring harness is the Tekonsha part # 118790 because it has the easiest install and the most reliable electronics. This harness and all of the ones that fit your vehicle do require the 4-way to store inside the rear door and then when you need it you would pull it out and shut the door over the wiring. I know that seems weird and potentially damaging but it actually is overall the best and safest way to protect the 4-way. When inside your vehicle its protected from the weather and all moisture as well as any road debris that can potentially harm it. I can't tell you how many times a day we get people asking us for help on why their 4-way isn't working and the issue is simply corrosion built up on the pins from exposure to the elements. This 4-way kit for your vehicle will basically never have that problem and the weather stripping that pinches it when the door is closed will not come close to harming it in any way.
If you need help picking out a hitch let me know and I can help with that! We are partial to the etrailer hitches like the # e55ZR but not just because our name is on them!
