Best Trailer Hitch Option For 2000 Ford F250 7.3 Powerstroke With Flat Bed

Updated 06/10/2025 | Published 06/09/2025

Question:

Gonna be putting a flat bed on my 2000 f250 7.3 powerstroke and looking for a Reese hitch to go below the end of my bed. What options do I have. Do pull my sxs occasionally and would like to get a small dump trailer in the future. Thank you.

Hello Lonnie. We do offer trailer hitches for the 2000 Ford F-250, but nothing from Reese. What we have is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15410. This is a class 5 hitch with a 2" receiver. It has a 17,000 lb towing capacity.

I am not sure of the dimensions of your flat bed though, so I have provided dimensions for the Curt # C15410 hitch for you below. Please compare this to your frame and flat bed to make sure everything will line up on your end.

Please note this hitch is intended for vehicles with a 20" or smaller spare tire. If your spare is larger than a 20" wheel, it will no longer fit under the vehicle and will need to be relocated.

Let me know if the dimensions in the pictures do not match up with what you have. Replying on this page is the best way to get ahold of me.

Ok. So gonna have a skirted flatbed installed. Want the receiver to be down lower like most of the built in hitches in the super expensive flatbeds. Is there a hitch that bolts to the chassis that is any lower than what I already have? I currently have the factory receiver in my truck.

@Lonnie There is the Curt # C15316 which is made for the F250 with the OEM deepdrop bumper. It has 9" of drop and 34-1/2" horizontal hole spacing. Aside from that, if you need a hitch with more drop it is possible but there are not any custom fit options. Take a look at the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver # 41990-16. This will fit frames up to 44" wide and has 16" tall weld-on brackets. It is super common for folks to use this type of hitch with flat beds.
