Best Hitch Recommendation for 2025 Ford Bronco Big Bend for Bike Rack Rear Spare Clearance

Updated 09/08/2025 | Published 06/06/2025

Question:

I have a new 2025 Bronco Big Bend with the Black Diamond package steel bumpers which I need to put a hitch on for my mountain bikes. Im currently using a Kuat Sherpa 2 rack with a 1.25 inch hitch. Id like a low profile 2 inch hitch like the one by Curt, so that I can borrow a larger rack from a friend when needed. My question is how long of an reducer/extender would I need to clear the rear mounted spare on the vehicle which is a 265/70 R17 which extends a minimum of 8.5 inches from the rear bumper. Thanks for the help.

Hey Gabriel, the best hitch solution for your 2025 Ford Bronco Big Bend would be the Draw Tite part # DT37GR as it has a hitch opening that sticks out further to allow for better clearance of the spare with a bike rack like you asked about. When we had the chance to install it on a similar Bronco Sport we found that it has 6 inches from the center of it's pin hole out to the rear spare edge which means nearly all bike racks would have enough clearance.

Hey Gabriel, did the Draw-Tite hitch work out for your Bronco with the bike rack? I'm curious to know if it provided the clearance you needed for the spare tire, as it could help others looking to set up their bikes like you.

@JamesonC It worked perfect. I use the Kuatt Hi Lo Pro to extend the rack and bikes beyond the spare, as well as the 1.25 to 2" adapter to allow my 1.25 Sherpa 2 rack fit. It's rock solid with no shake even on rough trails.
