These 53" Thule SquareBar Evo crossbars are built from galvanized steel, giving them the strength to handle up to 220 lbs of gear. The solid construction means you can load up kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, or cargo boxes without worrying about flex or stability. The polymer coating adds extra grip for your gear and helps prevent corrosion, so the bars stay strong and durable season after season.
The included Evo Raised Rail feet give the bars a custom fit to your vehicle’s raised side rails. I've had the roof rack for a year now and we only use it sporadically in the winter to put the ski box ontop of the car but it works great. Very easy to install and remove and very sturdy. Previously I had the kind that bolted into the roof of my SUV and had a terrible experience with that (we lost the rack and kayaks on the freeway and it tore holes in my roof). The clamp style is the only kind we'll get from now on because they are much sturdier and no risk of losing them. Definitely recommend them.
I ordered them to replace some that rusted out but still work. I plan to put them in when I give the car to an 18 year old to use for college.
Installed these with the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars on a Mercedes GLS 450 SUV. It was a pretty quick install however, they impede the panoramic sunroof from opening. The locks that come with are plastic and they're okay, but I'd recommend getting the metal locks that you can order separately for more security. They do make a whistling sound when driving, but it's not loud enough for me to care. All in all, these are great.
Bought these for our Jeep Cherokee but they struggle to fit the wider rails on the vehicle. Have to lubricant these to slide on. Often the boot come off when removing them or just transporting them from storage to the vehicle. I wish the locked cover was made of something stronger since someone could easily break the plastic and use a Allen wrench to remove them rack and what’s mounted to it. Otherwise I’m happy with these. I like the size and torque limiting features of the included wrench
I really like the included tool used for tightening to the roof rails. I have a tendency to over tighten things and this tool prevents that from happening.
This review is about the cross bars, the towers, clamps and pads made by Thule from the etrailer site. The instructions were straightforward, and the parts were clearly identified and labelled. Installation was easy, primarily because of the availability of instructional videos etrailer provided on line. Seeing it done from start to finish made the installation quite easy and straightforward. Looking forward to using my new roof system to transport our kayak this summer! Am very satisfied.
I think this a great roof rack it held a Thule box on a 2019 accord to florida but one thing I think that sucks is how much it whistles when driving besides that its great!!
The crossbars were delivered but one end of the box was ripped open during transit.The end caps on the crossbars were missing. I called customer service and the are sending me new end caps free of charge. Good cUstomer service.
The bars are nice but Thule pointedly does not include under bar cover strips with this style of bars. They include these strips with the other three styles of bars they sell. Including these strips would cut the wind noise these bars produce substantially. I overcame this omission by re-using an old 5/8 inch ID (7/8 inch OD) garden hose that I cut up and slid inside the bars from the ends.
I needed to update the feet for my Thule areo blade cross bars. With ease I was able to swap the feet and transfer the locs to the new feet. The install was super easy. Finding the right product was a breez with a quick email to Etrailer customer service.

So far so good! The ease of installation was incredible. Pop the fit kit together, put it on the bar and install. Everything is straight forward with the directions. Its even easier if you find a video of the installation. The rack definitely has a little bit of a whistle to it but its kinda expected when you disrupt the airflow. I'm going to pick up my new kayak tomorrow and couldn't be happier! Not the best photo but its all i got at the moment lol.
Easy to install with included instructions. Lost the torque key a day later

If you haven't been able to find it, we carry the replacement - part # TH49VW. One of the nice things about Thule is that almost every part is replaceable. :)
Classic square bar, but modern integration with the podium feet. Exactly what I was looking for.
I’ve been searching for a set of crossbars for my 2021 Crosstrek. After looking at several different companys,, I decided to go with etrailer.com and get the Thule Wingbar Evo Crossbars and Evo Raised feet. Ordering was quick and shipping was even faster! Installed them in about an hour with no issues. I love the way they look, and the construction is solid. Shout out to the staff for doing a great job and for the great communication from placing the order, confirmation, updates and shipping the order. You will not be disappointed!

The shipping was very timely and the products were exactly as ordered. I did notice some scratches and dings on the square cross bars which was a bit unfortunate. The packaging wasn’t damaged so I don’t know when the scratches and dings would have happened. The installation was extremely easy and the instructions were very straightforward. Overall very happy with the product just bummed about the scratches on the cross bars.
This is my first Thule product but not my last. etrailer was great to deal with the videos on how to install the product were so helpful. Between etrailer's help and all the reviews that other people had purchased and posted made this a very pleasant purchase and install. I highly recommend etrailer and the complete Thule WingBar system including the keylocks that worked perfectly. I typically don't write reviews but this one was worth doing.
Thule IS in my opinion the Best in Rack systems. There very well made and are pretty stout for my application with a roof basket. 52” X 80” Money well spent!! Thank You etrailer for The Best Service!
Thanks to etrailer.com, I found out these crossbar systems are just bags of interchangeable parts! So glad I didn’t toss my 2019 53” crossbars when they started whistling (Screeching!) at speeds above 45 mph. I had them removed from my ProMaster City van when I couldn’t stand it any more. Luckily i did some research and took them totally apart. The old raised rail feet were pretty trashed, but was able to clean the bars up and reuse the existing end caps and locks. The video instructions on etrailer.com were invaluable, and I was able to find the exact parts I needed. My 2019 crossbar system is like new at a fraction of the price id have paid for a new system!
About a year ago we purchased two Thule Hullavator Pro kayak racks along with a Thule SquareBar Roof Rack for mounting. The combination worked out very well and we headed from Colorado Springs to Duvall Washington outside of Seattle with three stops along the way to kayak. The trip went smoothly and we appreciated the Hullavator ease lifting the boats. We have two more trips planned in the near future. We did mount the boats with cockpits down to avoid filling with water when traveling without a problem.
I have a Corolla sedan SE 2024 and putting the proper tongue into the proper feet for that particular car and then adding the bar and placing it on the car a specific amount of the distance between etcetera warrants a small, very short video for that specific car--for every specific car, otherwise you wind up taking 2 hours to do a very simple job. Also one of the bars had a slight bow in. It was not exactly straight, which made the placement even more difficult.So all in all it was only average.
I had my old feet from my Jeep Cherokee on my Jeep Compass and realize they were not secure. So now I have the right feet on my car,
We needed Thule Square Bars to mount our 15-year-old Thule fork-mount bike trays, and these fit perfectly. The bars arrived well ahead of our upcoming trip to Wisconsin, giving us plenty of time to get everything set up. After being without a roof rack for a couple of years since getting our new vehicle, it feels great to be back on the road and ready for adventure.

The raised feet help to bring the crossbars up in height so that when we haul our canoe it does not hit the top of the car. We are still enjoying the car now that it is accessorized.
