Availability of Hitch For 2016 Forest River Rockwood Roo 23WS With 68-1/4 Frame for VelociRAX 5-Bike

Updated 09/12/2025 | Published 05/26/2025

Question:

I need a trailer hitch reciever to put on the back of my 2016 rockwood roo 23ws. The frame width is like 68 1/4 inches. This will be used for a velocirax 5 bike rack that is 98 lbs and states it needs a 500 lb tongue weight and can not be used with a bumper mounted hitch.

Hi Andrew; can you double check that frame measurement? Assuming that is correct, the only hitches that can accommodate your 68-1/4" frame don't have a high enough tongue weight capacity. The # C13704 you looked at has the necessary max tongue weight but only fits frames up to 66" wide.

We have some Class V weld-on hitches with a 2" receiver but they max out at 62" so those won't work either. Unless your frame measurement is off I think the only solution is to take the # E-11 to a local fabricator and have them fashion a custom hitch for your trailer. Make sure they don't cut the receiver down too much since you need 3-3/8" of depth past the center of the hitch pin hole for the VelociRAX to fit properly.

Hey Andrew, did you have a chance to verify the frame measurement for your trailer? I'm curious to know if you were able to find a solution for mounting your bike rack. If you're still looking for a solution, I'm happy to help!
